Opting out of $44 million? Yes it's a players option but it's completely guaranteed. Original contract was just a smidge under $160 million for 4 years. He has made $260 million so far and has no plans of retiring.

The word is he is thinking about opting out so he can sign another longer contract for about $100 million but that might not be a wise move? At his age an injury ends his career. The other side of the coin is he has made plenty of money and he would help the Suns immensely if he did take less per year and spread it out over a number of years. It also makes moving him more of a possibility.

The calculus will be interesting. If he knows he can get $100m deal over the next 3 years, I think it would be wise to opt out. If he got hurt bad enough next year, that could cost him $50m. Phoenix would be under the gun to give him that 3yr/$100m deal after the success they had. I think it would be a bad move on their part, but they're in a tough spot.

I think it's wise for two reasons. . An extra 50-60 million and he gives his team a better chance to acquire talent. Booker is good for 2 more years. They eventually have to sign Ayton. Crowder and Saric are good through 2023. They have to sign Bridges if they want to keep him. He can take them from 125 million down to 110 million or so and put more money in his pocket overall.
    But still it's $44 MILLION.

Series got very high TV ratings despite no glamour team or major media market. Remember when we heard no one would watch a Pacers/Blazers series?

I agree, it was very enjoyable, but that's not the same as having good ratings. The casual fan's interests typically don't align with the die hards'.

And the last time the Knicks were in the Finals, the ratings were extremely low.

    Bucks first chip since ‘71.

Does this mean we win the championship in 2027?
