Another trade ideas thread. Seen a lot of CJ threads, but I've enjoyed just having a general thread in the past to post whatever random trade idea floats into my head. So here ya go.
BOS Gets: Myles Turner, C.J. McCollum IND Gets: Robert Covington, Derrick Jones Jr. HOU Gets: Kemba Walker, 2022 POR 1st POR Gets: Jaylen Brown, Eric Gordon
Curious if people would take Portland's side of this deal (CJ, RoCo, DJJ and a 1st for Jaylen Brown and Eric Gordon's awful contract).
It would take that much to get Brown? Seems like giving up a lot to me, but I know CJ's contract is not going to be attractive to teams. Portland will have to sweeten any CJ deal considerably.
That's the tough part of is. Would LOVE to have RoCo play in that lineup. Don't see how we can get Brown without giving up C.J. and him. We would get a $12M TPE from it that we could use. Would love a switchable 3-and-D wing.
People are overexaggerating CJ's contract being bad. Good luck finding a 23/5 guy shooting 40% from 3 who's not on a max contract. Kemba's contract is far worse. I think they may want to improve their lead ball-handler at the guard spot and Tatum is good enough to take enough pressure off of C.J. in that regard. McCollum/Smart/Tatum/???/Turner makes a lot of sense depending on who slots in at the other forward spot. But Brown is definitely worth a ton. a 24-year old that just put up 25ppg and 3.5apg who can defend at a very high level and play the 2 or the 3... Not easy to acquire those types of guys, he may not even be available. We might have to add picks to make that worth it.
As far as Indiana's side of this, I don't see how they say no. Getting RoCo slides Sabonis to his more natural position and provides a good defensive forward they need and who meshes well with their players. Houston trades a bad 4-year contract at about $18M per for a bad 3-year contract at about $35M per that matches up with Wall's and gets a pick out of it. Question mark would be Boston IMO but I'd jump on this if I'm Portland.
I expect us to get a kings ranson for CJ All-Star McCollum and his good contract. Another all-star and maybe a lottery pick on top?
It's a lot to give up. Only someone who thought CJ wasn't great, had a bad contract, DJJ was junk, and RoCo wasn't a difference maker would be willing to do something like this.
I wouldn’t expect a kings ransom but I’m not gonna pay a kings ransom for Jaylen fucking Brown. Ask Celtics fans how they feel about his knees and defense.
Brown has already a injury history, if he would be out, we basicly traded CJ, RoCo, DJ and a first for Eric Gordon, Dame would leave immediately
Would Boston even do that? That's too much for Jaylen Brown. I'd rather not take on the black hole contract that is Eric Gordon. Give Houston our first for a 2nd year in a row? Indiana would ask for a least a pick with Roco and DJJ
Really? Brown is the perfect piece to get back for a C.J. trade IMO. Dame/Brown/Norm/Nurk is a great core.
