Here’s another guy I like: Satoransky. He’s making the same as Hood. If we add Simons, we’d stay under the tax. He’s 29, so the bulls could look to go younger. Career 38% 3PT shooter, has great size for a ballhandler. Would fit behind or next to Dame. Signed through next season.
Lets get crazy and bring in Lance Stephenson. He would be cheap. Apparently his been training and his 3 point shot doesn't look too bad. At least he would get into some peoples heads if not ears
I just don't understand this Vucevic talk. Why exactly would Orlando trade an all- star center for our spare parts?
Whatever our plans may be, I really hope we don't trade any more draft picks. Portland has really done a pretty good job of turning mediocre picks into NBA-caliber talent.
I meant Little...I said Little in my mind...then I typed Hood....I wonder if the scotch had anything to do with it since you asked nicely...yes...I meant Little
* Lavine yes, about the same, but I'd probably trade CJ for him because Lavine has a salary next year 11 million below CJ's; and he's 4 years younger * Murray is about the same level and is another undersized tweener guard. He's 5 years younger than CJ, but like CJ, he has a bloated contract. It's even worse than CJ's. No...I wouldn't trade CJ for Murray. We know how he performs with Jokic, but that easily could mean he'd be less effective on other teams * Booker is a little better than the other 3, IMO. He's 5 years younger than CJ and over the last 3 seasons, he's put up similar numbers to CJ's 12 game stretch to start the season.....meaning he's been quite a bit better than CJ. His contract is about the same as CJ's too. I'd likely trade CJ for Booker. At the same time, I'd be a little skeptical he'd alter Portland's trajectory to any significant level. Maybe, and the chance it would is worth the risk. And I think his trade value will only increase while CJ's won't
Is it my imagination or has the word "terrible" evolved into a different meaning these days? It seems like now players are either great, good, or terrible. Is there anyone these days average or slightly below average? I have seen terrible before and even coming off his injury, Hood is not terrible.
I feel like for this season alone, Dame, CJ, Trent, Little, Melo, RoCo, and Kanter are pieces you can count on to contribute most nights. I similarly feel that if the remaining pieces could somehow be converted into a reliable backup PG and a big with perimeter skills, we'd have the pieces we need to make some noise in the playoffs.
I think it's a huge oversight to leave DJ off of that list. His defense is fantastic (really disruptive) and he's shot 41% from three and 58% overall over the last ten games.
The stats don't really back this up. 5 ppg off 37% shooting and 31% from three in 19 minutes per game. Here are a few more interesting tidbits He has a PER of 4.9 His TS% is 43.6 His WS is -0.5 His ORtg is 89 His DRtg is 119 Pretty much by any measurement he is playing horrible. If there are positives I'm really not seeing them. Before the injury he was a pretty decent player. It's possible he could get back to that, but right now he's a huge net negative.
Those are season averages, right? Is there no difference between his earlier and more recent performance?
See, I would say that terrible players are the ones who have maybe several good games and then a bunch of shitty ones. Rodney has had three really good games this year out of 28 games. 21 points off 9-14 shooting in a loss to San Antonio. 15 points off 5-12 shooting and 3-6 from three against Washington. 16 points off 7-14 shooting and 2-2 from three against Philly. But here's the key, in our four game losing streak he was basically worthless, outside of the Suns game.
I feel like we're getting caught up in the phrasing. What would you call his play? Bad? Mediocre? Unimpressive? Disappointing? Lackluster? Uninspired? I'll put it another way. Here is how he ranks on our team: He is 5th in salary on our team. He is 8th in games played. He is 9th in minutes per game. He's 11th in PPG He's 13th in FG% He's 10th in 3P% He is 12th in total rebounds per game He is 9th in assists per game He is 13th in PER (ahead of only Blevins) He is 13th in TS% (again, ahead of only Blevins) He is 12th in TRB% He is last in WS (guess who's in front of him) He is 13th in BPM How would you describe that kind of contribution from our 5th highest paid player?
If the Rockets and Knicks are serious about Oladipo a win-now and plan for the future move may be to try turn Trent, Hood, and Giles into Ntilitinka and Tucker. We'd certainly be buying low, but I think at minimum both of those guys could counteract some of the defensive issues of Lillard/CJ/Ant and Melo while adding floor spacing (Tucker - most years) and being able to run the second unit next to Ant (Ntilitinka).
