Yes, that was my original point. The word/phrase "terrible" is used too loosely for players these days. I can see saying someone played terrible in a game or even a stretch of games, but to say classify someone as a terrible player seems to be used too often as of late. (Certainly not just by you) I also don't agree that someone's salary should be a factor in determining if a player is good or not. I understand that cap space is a factor in how we get better, but why we include it in almost every discussion seems irrelevant most of the time. Once our team is set for the season the players are either better or worse than the next guy on the bench. That is all that matters. Why get hung up on how much a player makes? Again I realize with a cap it is important....but I still think it is injected into the conversation way too often. But to answer your question, I would classify him as mediocre and inconsistent right now. Like I said he has looked good and bad. To say he is terrible though seems like hyperbole to me. However, if I were Terry once CJ gets back, I would decrease Hood's minutes.
My point being: The market dictates what these guys are paid, and there's many cases of players like CJ getting similar contracts.
ok..sure....no argument; Olshey is not the only GM who overpays talent and MY point was that a team paying all-star money to non-all-star player will almost certainly not be a contender; especially when his skills are redundant with the best player.
Spurs are listening on Aldridge. Could they buy him out? Either way, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a blazer next year.
A bought out LMA or Blake Griffin (if Neil can leverage his relationship) would be great for this squad. I'd like to see the team rebounding stats go up, and either dude would likely help.
2020-21 total rebounding rates: Robert Covington 11.0% Nasir Little 10.0% Derrick Jones 9.4% Blake Griffin 9.2% Lamarcus Aldridge 9.0%
i wonder if our record makes Neil go all in at the deadline and trade some of our youngins. It's unfortunate we don't have any picks to dangle anymore. honestly feel like our record is inflated by Dame's greatness and a soft schedule. Our record against teams > .500 has been pretty miserable. Hope Neil thinks this thru before throwing in guys in trades, while still not being too stingy. Think everyone is tradeable for the right guy.
How about Hood and DJJ to Sac for Harrison Barnes. Would give us a better offensive option at SF and would give them some salary cap relief after this season.
That’s...not happening. Although I agree, I wouldn’t mind seeing Barnes/Covington at the forward spots.
Timberwolves should do this after they trade Rubio to us. I think Brown is underrated and Towns is overrated.
I think Olshey had no reason to pay CJ so much. Look at VanVleet's contract for example. I think he is a better player, he is certainly not worse. He got a fair deal of 80/4y. Olshey is basically bidding against himself with all those bloated contracts. The guy gave Meyers 41M after a terrible season.
