My favorite trade is still trading Hood and Trent and Giles for Larry Nance. Nance is a good passer, rebounder and I think he leads the league in deflections, very high in steals, decent 3 pt%. He is signed up for two more years after this one. Cleveland needs a big guy as their third guard. I think most people agree we need to trade Trent or CJ, can't afford both.
that's true, but it also means the value of the first is less than normal, even if they are willing to trade it unprotected. On the other hand, it's pretty certain Portland's obligation to Houston will be finished in the next draft. So, a 2023 first is not that far out
I like us facilitating an Oladipo trade to NYK. POR: PJ Tucker, Frank Ntilikina NYK: Oladipo HOU: Trent, Hood, Giles, Knox We'd miss Gary's scoring (but less so with CJ back) and Ntilikina could play next to any of our guards and offer defense and an extra ball handler on the floor. PJ Tucker would hopefully make Enes Kanter and Carmelo playable (not at the same time) and offer a smallball look when paired with Covington.
I've seen Tucker in 3 games this year....he did not look good. Looked slow. Maybe he still has it but he also could be mostly done. Ive never been impressed with Ntilikina, looks like he has a broken shot, IMO. But I haven't seen that much of him so maybe I'm missing something
He's shooting well this year. His main contributions would be defense and getting the offense set when one of Dame or CJ is off the floor. He'd allow Ant to play off-ball as well. Tucker is dogging it and wasn't a great fit next to Cousins. We've seen last year how well he worked with Roco, I don't think he fell off a cliff that quickly. I think he would give us a lot of flexibility, injury insurance, and 20 solid mpg each night.
I don't have a strong idea of what his value would be around the league. Any team trading for him would want some assurance that he'd be willing t0 re-sign (or at least not cause issues with not wanting the team to match), he's limited on D, and needs to be next to a playmaker. I think some team will be willing to pay him $15M, but I'm not sure they're going to be happy with the decision long-term.
Yeah but Trent is a player at a premium position. I personally would want more than a journeyman and a bust if we are going to trade him.
Agreed. A player we could target is John Collins. Maybe the Hawks don’t want him because of how loaded they are on guards, but perhaps Trent to Piston, Grant to Hawks, and Collins to Portland. Obviously need other players to make the trade work
I'd do this, mainly because Jones Jr. has actually been our worst +/- player (unlike RoCo - our best) - even worse than Hood and Melo.
I cant imagine why the Pistons would even consider trading Grant without receiving a massive haul though.
Where are you getting your numbers. He’s among the top in on/off and BPM according to BBRef Also this: https://www.nba.com/stats/players/t...1&SeasonType=Regular Season&TeamID=1610612757 Feel like you’re misreading some numbers.
I saw one report that said Boston had offered 2 firsts for Grant and were turned down, doubt he is coming to Portland.
If Collins is available, I'd be very interested in what it would take to get him. To me, this trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. Dame/Rondo CJ/Simons RoCo/DJJ/Little Collins/Melo Nurk/Kanter
