I don't care if we don't make a move. Our problems are internal and won't be solved with an acquisition. We need to figure out our own issues.
I disagree. I think the roster is pretty questionable. So is the lack of cover for the injuries. I'd also point out that coaches are personnel
The only trade I’d be happy with involves head coaches otherwise we could trade for LeBron, Embiid , Giannis and keep Dame and we would still be a first round out with Stotts.
Healthy, even w/o Zach, Portland has as much talent as the Suns and the Jazz. It's how the talent is being utilized, IMHO, that is the difference.
Phoenix? maybe/maybe not....Utah, no. Besides, Portland is nowhere near either of those teams in defensive talent but more than that is how the pieces fit together and Portland has some awkward fits, IMO
We could use Towns - it’s the trade to figure out. THREE-TEAM TRADE IDEA [NBA Trade Machine Approved] Portland receives Towns from Timberwolves Aminu from Orlando A 2nd round pick from Orlando 2021 Orlando receives: CJ from Portland A Timberwolves 2nd round pick Timberwolves receive: Nurkic from Portland Gordon from Orlando A 2nd round pick from Orlando
I proposed Aminu primarly to make the numbers in my Concept Trade work. And since he’s a veteran with previous Blazer experience, he will only bring additional cohesion to the second half and playoffs. Not a bad player coming off the far end of the bench. Adds a bit of depth should Collins not make it back to full strength at the start of next season, we choose not to re-sign Melo next year, etc.
Ayton is pretty good, certainly better than Kanter. Johnson and Nader are pretty good. What I've seen from Payne this year has looked good. But again, the pieces fit together really well. The only minus defender in the starting lineup is Booker. And the bench doesn't bring is crappy defenders like Melo, Hood, and Simons
Ayton is good because he's been coached up. Was bad coming into the league. Johnson? If he was here you'd say he's below average. Thing is, they're top 10. Were 29th. Were as far away from Minny at 25 than they are to Indy at 12... and that's with us playing an easy schedule.
I was thinking the same thing watching the first half. What are we going to do? Trade Ant and Nas as part of a package to get Aaron Gordon? How does that make this team significantly better presently as a trade-off for making it significantly worse in a couple of years? If there's a trade out there that would move the needle, that's not it.
Rumor is Ariza to Miami. How about this: Hood and MIA 2nd rounder to OKC Ariza to MIA Bradley/Harkless to POR I don't think it solves all of our problems and there is a bit of a guard logjam afterwards but we'd bring in two capable defenders.
