What happened with Cousins. I remember when he was arguably the most talented big in the league. I’d take a flier on him.
i don’t think Green is much of an upgrade if at all over Covington. Just last year Covington was all defensive team. Green does have playmaking abilities. But Green seems like a system player.
In about two weeks I would trade CJ and Zach to the Knicks for Julius Randle, Austin Rivers and both the Knicks and Mavs first rounders this year. The Knicks get the star guard they need and an expiring contract or RFA in Zach, whichever they want. They also get to start Toppin to get his career going. They'd also still have Noel and Knox to back up the post spots. I think CJ is far more valuable than Randle and Rivers, so they would need to give up the picks or at least their pick. It's also important to remember that they would still have around 50M in cap space this summer to get more help for CJ. For us we get Randle who can play small ball 5 while we wait for Nurk to heal. Randle also provides the thing that everyone has been saying that we need to get in return for CJ, a play maker. I actually think he can play with Nurk at the 4 when Nurk gets healthy. We get to start Gary which would give us a much better D. We get Rivers who can back up both guard spots. We would also cut more than 12 million from our payroll. That mean that if we don't pick up the option on Hoodie and DJJ does amazing the rest of the season that if he opts out we could sign him before Gary gets an offer and then match Gary's offer.
I thought about bumping the Kevin Love to Portland thread for this. https://www.blazersedge.com/platfor...argets-for-portland-trail-blazers-at-deadline Possible Trade Targets For Blazers At Deadline Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report picks a few possible targets for Portland. As the Portland Trail Blazers look towards the NBA trade deadline, Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has suggested a few targets that the team could pursue to buttress their performance on the defensive end, add a second point guard, or increase offensive production, namely Kyle Anderson, George Hill, and Kevin Love.
Why do I feel like a lot of this teams problems would be solved if we had someone like Rondo on the second unit?
I know this is early to talk about but if the Knicks were doing poorly on or after February 25th, when Austin Rivers can be traded. I think they would trade Randle and Rivers for CJ and maybe even add in the Mavs first rounder this year. Toppin then gets to play a bunch. They would basically have the same back court with Quickly getting more minutes. They would be way worse this season but would develop for next season and get a really high pick that they could either pick with or use to upgrade a position of need. They'd probably have CJ take it slow coming back and get him back with enough time for him to develop a rhythm and chemistry with his new teammates before next season. They would also still have enough cap space to pursue a second contract max player or trade for one that isn't working out for the team they are on for cap space and picks.
Blazers should be targeting Boogie Cousins. He would probably come pretty cheap. Boogie & Dame are also tight.
