What about something like Nurkic, Hood, Collins, Trent and a pick or two to Chicago for Markannen, LaVine, and Valentine

dude LaVine just made the all star game and you want to give them role players and mid 1sts for him? Plus markannen. Chicago would ask for CJ

Is there a realistic player that POR could trade to go ALL-IN for a championship this year? I mean mortgage the entire future (Trent, Little, Simons) to get an impactful piece.

With LeBron hurt and whispers of KD having something more serious, this could be the year that multiple teams have a legitimate chance at the title.

Probably not, because none of the Blazers trade pieces are that great. Right now, no star/superstar is available but many people think Bradley Beal might become available. But if he does, Washington is going to want a massive package--on that scale, interesting young players like Little or Trent qualify as nothing more than throw-ins, not centerpieces. Even CJ probably wouldn't interest them that much, as he's a worse version of Beal--a veteran scoring guard who's not good on defense. Not a super young, super talented, affordable player.

if Olshey wanted to trade those three I think he could get John Collins. Not sure if he’d be enough to put the team over the top though.

I think trading CJ, Nurk and Nas in a trade that nets us KAT and a legit backup PG would be an all in move. There have been rumors that the Knicks want CJ.

    upload_2021-3-20_18-51-26.png

I think Dame and KAT would be the most deadly and complementary combination in the league. A starting lineup of Dame, Gary, DJ, RoCo, KAT with a bench of Rivers, Melo, Enes, Hood, Ant and then the ability to sign any two guys off of the buyout market or G League would be an actual contender. I would even guarantee the Rockets pick this year so I could send a first to the Wolves if it were necessary.

This would be like playing with the team that we'd been playing with before CJ came back but we'd have a legit backup PG that can guard both guard spots. Oh and we'd be putting KAT at center and bringing Enes off of the bench. Then add in the opportunity this trade would provide for us to sign anyone we want that's available.

I do believe that a three-way with Orlando / Minnesota / Portland can be win-win-win

    Portland gets Rubio & Towns

    Orlando gets CJ

    Minnesota gets Nurkic & Gordon

earlier in the season I was hearing interest by Orlando for a Gordon-CJ trade. I’m now reading Minnesota has interest in Gordon...

Everyone wins and we get a very good point guard off the bench and we get a 25 year-old Center that is much better than Nurkic.

Orlando gets what they wanted earlier in the year - CJ.

My dream scenario, CJ for Simmons (whatever pieces needed or picks), his defense and ability to create takes ton of pressure of Dame, then trade for A. Gordon. both players make the game easier for Lillard and for all other teammates and defensively we drastically improve. Hate losing CJ’s ability to take over during games but think these moves makes us contenders

Man, you guys are creating horrendous trade returns for Minnesota. If Towns were on the Blazers and someone suggested trading him away for the stuff you two are sending to Minnesota, you'd laugh it off.

Seems rather reactionary. He's certainly in a slump but he's earned enough good will to think he'll turn it around.

I also wouldn't be against using him to get a starter. Maybe Nurk + Trent + Collins? Certainly interesting for teams.

Nurk and Randle... the way Randle has been playing. That's an upgrade for Minny but like I said if they wanted a first rounder thrown in I'd do it. The Wolves are a team with an all-nba player and nothing else except small prospects so getting an all-star and a really good starter for him is a great way to fill more positions with talent.

Of course the Wolves GM wouldn't be crazy if his position was that he wanted to wait to see what the team with the worst record in the league can do as its players mature and Towns stays healthy.

Would be an upgrade over Hood. He’s ranked third among all small forwards in DRPM. Only Lebron and DeAndre Hunter rank ahead of him. Also top 10 in RPM. Dunno how’d we match salaries though, or what he’s even worth.

I prefer Gordon to Collins. Collins is a better scorer, but Gordon is a much better passer. And even defensively, I think Gordon has a lot more mobility than JC on switches and in a zone.

And Gordon will be somewhat cost controlled next season, while Collins would demand the max or close to it.

if Portland is thinking about trading Trent because they are worried about his 2nd contract, the last player they'd want is one who could be getting 10-15M/year more than Trent this summer

because of Dame's super-max contract, with CJ's deal added, Portland essentially has 2 max contracts. I don't think any team can afford 3. Even the Warriors couldn't. They were only able to add Durant because they had Curry and Thompson signed for a fraction of their value

if a team has 2 max contracts on the books, they both need to be perennial all-stars, complement each other well, and at least one needs to be a two-way player. That is Portland's big obstacle in trying to build a contender. They have to strike gold with a 3rd player, and they are having lots of trouble just finding bronze
