I'm with you on this. If Nurk becomes reliable from 3 it helps this team. I just also see HCP's point. It can backfire badly.

Chauncey said as much in his postgame when asked about Nurk getting a green light to put up more. He said it's not about encouraging or stopping him, but adding a wrinkle to our offense (he noted especially ATOs) just because he is a threat.

Hey Nurk you know how you have the best 3pt% on the team right now ? Yeah if you could just stop shooting that be great.

OK so you're saying ticky tack is the fault of the player generally? Didn't watch the game.

I don’t want him shooting Friday night with 5 seconds left tied at 99. He now thinks he can shoot from out there.

No different than when Aminu would make 2 to start a game then he thought he was Ray Allen down the stretch.

Kind of? Player for being in the position but official for making a call that could have let play on. Seems like we get a few every game.

I think this is the point that you are making that people aren't getting. Correct me if I'm wrong but throughout the game if Nurk finds himself wide open from three, you're cool with him taking the shot but you don't want him taking contested threes and you definitely don't want him taking threes with the game on the line. Also, if you're like me, you don't want him living out there which would take time away from him dominating the paint like he is capable of and should be worrying about more than shooting outside.

I want Nurk to take 3-5 threes per game as long as they come naturally from him setting outside screens and getting left wide open. I don't want us running plays to get Nurk screens and I don't want him being seen as a go to outside shooter. I also don't want this to distract Nurk from the things he needs to be concentrating on the most which are dominating the paint on both ends along with going up strong with the ball in the restricted area on offense. That being said, teams getting punished for leaving Nurk alone beyond the arc and not being able to use simple drop coverages against us does open up driving lanes for all of our guys that need them and that happens to be the entire roster.

Seems Nurk gets some every game. It's understandable why he gets frustrated. Hate ticky tack calls in the paint.

ever since nurk came to the league, refs always called fouls on him and that hasnt changed and it wont change, so he needs to play smart and dont give them reason to call fouls, which he does and that also wont change

there are players who do stupid stuff and they cant stop doint it, its a mental thing... how many times we saw nurk commit frustration fouls or consecutive fouls or fouls very early in the quarter or when he has two fouls with two minutes left in the 2nd quarter and instead of going to the halftime with two fouls, he commits third foul, or the passes hes trying to force (yeah, he can pass, we know that, but dont force it), its really frustrating, but it is what it is

I'd trade Nurk shooting worse on three's for him shooting better on two's. His 3pt percentage is amazing; for a 7' C, his 2pt percentage is terrible. He shoots less than 2 three's a game and more than 8 two's, so yeah, it would be best if he improved on the 81% of the FG's he attempts

I'd take a Nurk 3 if he's wide open ? Hart won a game this season at the buzzer and he's been a much worst shooter than Nurk this season. (On about the same number of attempts)

@THE HCP Why are you acting like players can't add anything to their games ? Brook Lopez and Mark Gasol spent 8 years in the league before they added a 3 point shot.

When I'm watching a game, the last thing I want to see is an opposing player who shoots over 40%(on threes) wide open for a 3-point shot.
That's a good way to get into a ditch or lose a lead.
Just watching the game now, the Wizards have had a comfortable lead over the Suns, immediately called a timeout in the 4th quarter when Ayton drilled a 3-pointer.
All it takes is a few of those and your comfortable lead is gone.

And in that game, Nurk hit a crunch time 3 that helped lead us back.
