I think the NBA started scheduling teams for games like that in 2020 or 2021. I believe their reasoning was to reduce the overall amount of travel for teams.

Can’t even imagine being in NBA at 19 playing against all those guys that you were just watching on tv. I’d want to try and fit in take my opportunities when they came but also not step on any of the vets toes. He took 12 shots that’s about starter amount so it wasn’t like he wasn’t aggressive.

Good point. Makes sense financially too.

I like it from the competition aspect as well. Like a miniature in season playoff series. Like playing a game 1/2. It’s different when you’ve got the same team twice in a row. Scout them today, and tomorrow. Study film from last nights win/loss and apply any changes tomorrow. Something you don’t really get outside of the playoffs. It will help some of these teams without playoff experience if they choose to take it seriously and treat it as such.

Low key one of the best changes the NBA has made in a long time.

This roster is nice mix youth and vets. Cracks me up hearing Simons is expandable now that we have Sharpe, that kid is stud 14 3’s in last two games. I like Sharpe at the 3 with some time at the 2 when Dame or Simons go to bench. The odd guy out is likely Little or Hart. Hart is glue type guy that I hate the thought of losing but don’t see how we can afford to keep him.

future is as bright as I’ve seen in years. As Dame gets older we now have guys who can slowly take the reigns

The really interesting thing about this kid is that he is this crazy mix of humble and confident. His answers also tend to be a bit blunt and short but I think that's just because he doesn't overthink things. It will interesting to see how he grows in this manner.

On a side note I can't believe this kid is only 3 years older than my son.

To everyone who slandered Nurk in a thread of a game where he had 27/15 on 70% shooting: You guys made me fucking cringe.

I asked that a week or two ago. What I noticed is every team has to play two consecutive road games in the same city. The thing I noticed that is different is all the other ones I looked at gets a night off between the two games, where the Blazers have to play them back to back nights.

Winslow had a couple of bad turnovers last night, but I am very happy to have a backup PF dish out 7 assists. (To go along with Ant's 7, Hart's 4, and Grant's 4) His +/- was again in the top 3 for the team. The Blazers are 5-0 so far in games that he has played, and 0-1 when he has not. Coincidence? Probably, but they do play well when he is on the floor.

While I'm ecstatic to have someone of Grant's caliber at the 4 I do get a little surprised sometimes at how out of control he can get driving to the basket.

Simons has averaged 46.8 on 3-pointers in his last 3 games.
Last season, Simons was #1 in the NBA on volume catch-and-shoot 3-pointers (4 or more), making those at 47.8 percent.

Especially when later in the game he is very in control and looks unstoppable.

Nurk is one of the players on the roster that can dominate.
He did it in last season in Memphis (the 4th game of the famous 4-game win streak), shooting 12-17 for 32 points.
Then he had to be shut down because he was playing too well.

Edit: Nurk in the famous 4-game win streak
    vs Memphis - 32 points 8 rebounds
    vs Milwaukee - 23 points 16 rebounds
vs New York - 12 points 20 rebounds
vs LA Lakers - 19 points 12 rebounds

It's good coaching that made Nurk the early focus of the offense against the undersized Rockets....mismatch in the paint all night long. That's why you have a skilled 7 ftr on your team.

He has the tools but he is letting guys drive past him on his outside shoulder, maybe forgetting he has help in the center, or forgetting what is their dominant direction. I'm sure he can overcome this in not much time.
