I could be wrong, but I don’t believe I mentioned you by name once. As for my purpose, it’s to discuss my favorite team. A team I’ve loved since day 1, or at least game 1. Our opinions on players, owners, fans, coaches, roster moves, etc. don’t need to align for us to be a fan of the team, do they? Maybe there is another forum where everyone agrees with everyone else and has a zoom meeting after every game to sing kumbaya? There is also the ignore button. While I would never, I’ve always encouraged people who have an issue with my opinions to use it

Nah, I'm good. I've been in mustangs....I'll pass. Enjoy that horsepower until you actually have to turn left or right. HA!

Independant suspension rocks! It's all about the running gear if you want to enjoy a ride!

You should really look at what has transpired since 2015 before repeating such claims.

quoting me while saying that “people need to calm the fuck down” sure feels like you’re directing that at me. Not saying we all have to agree, but you seem so quick to shoot down anything positive said about nearly anything about this team from what I have read.

He’s a fringe NBA player who isn’t going to continue to shoot 57% from 3. He is a career 29% 3 pt shooter in the G league and has an average G league PER. People did the same thing with Brandon Williams last year. The guy had 6 games for us scoring over 20 pts and people thought we had found our back up pg. He’s not even in the league this year. Hope Mays is good enough to stick, but it’s been 3 games with no advanced scouting

No one did this with Wiliams. Everyone saw him as the inefficient chucker who only had raw numbers because of high usage.

Obviously Mays will not shoot as well moving forward. But he has better instincts at the PG position than anyone not named Dame on this roster. There's a comfort level when he has the ball that is not easy to find. He makes smart reads and is actually running the team. A far better guard than the young guy we have on our roster in Keon.

And what are we saying really... That he should be third string PG next yr, not Dame's replacement

You see that after 3 games of not being scouted?

Valid point but there are quite a few guards who cant do what Mays is doing without being scouted. Like how many words do you think are spent on Keon on opponent reports?

What I see in Mays is a guy who really excels at passing the ball..and protecting it...we haven't had that pt guard since Andre Miller really..somebody who can put the ball where it needs to be without giving it to the other team. The bonus is he can shoot and rebound and is stronger than Shabazz Napier or Brandon Williams or Tim Frazier..Mays is a better two way pt guard than all three of those guys.

At least so far. It is tough to fathom that 3 of the best games of his entire career as a basketball player have come all in a row in his first games for Portland. At some point, it seems likely he will regress, and maybe quite a lot. That said, I still see some things that I like that not a lot of other players on this roster do, or do well. There seems a place for him given some of the roster spots being taken up.

What part of his game will regress?

he's shooting 63% on two's; 57% on three's, and 100% of FT's, and has an assist/turnover ratio of 5.5. He'll regress in all those areas

I watch the Andre Miller 52 point game a couple times a year lol. Mays does seem like that kind of player. At this point, I would just sign him to a 3 year deal like what Greg Brown got.

Just a heady guard. Steadying hand who understands the game. His shot will inevitably start missing but think he has the chops to still be effective.

I’m more impressed with his passing ability. The scoring has been nice, but I don’t expect him to be getting this many shots in the regular rotation anyway. He can run the offense and doesn’t constantly hunt for his own shot, adequate on defense and shooting, and size isn’t a concern. That’s really all you can ask for from a backup or third string PG.
