I can't believe we have ONE MORE SEASON AFTER THIS with Nicholson's 3M on the books. Jesus christ.

    Good catch. Thanks. Updated.

Wow. That puts the Blazers a bit over the Tax line.

I wonder if we trade Hart. I love his game, but he's going to get squeezed for PT. And his 13 mil could be better spent on different positions (MLE + BAE)

Probably have to go into the tax if they want to contend.

They just used a 20M trade exception, they're going into the tax imo. Was the whole point of dipping it last season.

It's all gonna hinge on how ready Shaedon is.

If the guy is ready to step in and get minutes right away, and he very well might be, then we're going to have a hard time finding minutes for all these dudes.

I think in that scenario the team aims to stay under the tax. Why go just a couple million over and set a repeater clock?

Limit Nurk to 14 mil and only use tax MLE. There will probably be a few ways to do it.

I gave max raises to Nurk and Ant at these numbers. Nurk gets 16M/year and Ant gets 22M/year average.

I'm not sure what the exact tax number is. Some sites say 147M some say 149M. If it's 149M, we can just barely use the full MLE without even hitting the tax, for 14 players. Then they would have to sign Jabari to a 2-way or find some way to dump DiDi or someone else in order to not hit the tax. If we re-sign Ingles we're going into the tax for sure. If we use the full MLE, we can only pay Ingles somewhere around 5-6M max because then we'd be up against the apron.

At the same time though, if you're not going into the tax, what the fuck are you doing? I have to imagine they were willing to go into the tax, because if the rumored OG deal went down, we'd be easily over the apron. But I'm guessing there's a level the team needs to be at before Jody is comfortable going into the tax. What that level is.....IDK, but the current team is a play-in team on paper at best.

With Jody and Burt I'll believe it when I see it.

i'd rather just keep everyone and make Jody pay the tax like she should for a playoff team. Hell, we won't be a repeater this year, so it's not THAT cost-prohibitive.

GS and BK had like 300 million dollar payrolls when you add the salaries and tax. If we have an owner crying about paying 10 mil in tax, they're in the wrong business, and Dame should ask out.

Because we want to be a playoff team! And we have a guy on a supermax! Pay the fucking tax if you want to win.

Have you seen the free agents available for the MLE BAE? They are not better spent options than Hart. Playing time will be fine, Sharpe was 18 last month he's not ready.

They've been in the tax every season since Paul's death except the one when they shut down their best player. You literally did see it.

I guess if the deal was Hart + Bledsoe + Sharpe for OG that's actually 23M going out and 17M coming in.

Ok rewatched the PC from yesterday:

"Depending on how high our team salary gets, we might lose access to a few of those mechanisms where the MLE/BAE could convert to a tax-payer level. So depending on how high we take it, we might lose some of those tools."

This quote makes it seem like they're more concerned with the machinations involved in the build rather than a specific mandate by Jody to not pay the tax. I'm OK with that. If this is the case, the best options might be to trade Bledsoe and/or Hart if we want talent.

    ~20 min mark.

It smells like a 3-1 or 4-1 player trade. Vet for potential.

I wonder what Hart is worth on the open market. Somewhere around 15-20M is my guess. They are gonna have to pay him that the year after. If you can turn Hart+Nas into a legit starting SF, you do that.

problem is our guys making 1-5 mil are mostly scrubs or heavily undervalued youngins who other teams won't care for. Like in reality, what kinda trade value do Watford/Keon have?

Ya you would have to trade Hart + our best young guy (Nas) if you want anything of significance. Any value Bledsoe had went out the door given our lack of picks to attach to him.

That Thybulle rumor is definitely intriguing. I would take him into our Roco TPE for sure. He can serve as a temporary stopgap at starting SF and add to our wing depth without costing an arm and a leg.

I don't know how much value Hart+Nas have though. The reason they don't have as much value is the same reason we'd be looking to move them, both are expiring.

Would Charlotte S&T Bridges for Hart+Nas+Bledsoe? We can probably get Harrison Barnes but he's not worth either...
