Good to hear....Houston would be a team that needs a guy like that...for some reason he's on the trade block though

Again you compare two guys on veteran minimum contracts with Eric Gordon who is paid $19 million?

I'm not sure how that supports your illogical position that Eric Gordon will be a happy member of the Blazers while receiving 0 minutes.

Well Houston is rebuilding, so if they're gonna have players hurting their tank ideally it wouldn't be a 33 year old with no future there.

I would love kj Martin. But not for a first rounder obviously.

I'm not saying Gordon is happy or not...I just thought that today it was current news about us asking into it. I came into this story not having any idea what Gordon makes or Aldridge or Milsap, etc...why when a news piece is talked about does it mean that the person pointing it out is selling the idea? I'm not all interested in Gordon the player but Martin the young 6'8 wing attached to the rumor fills a positional need for us now...I thought it was interesting that we are trying to move Bledsoe's deal and Houston is the 13th team we've engaged about it....Houston seemed to show some interest. It also hints that if we are signing a vet guard and wing that another deal may be sending one or more of our "guards" out as well....Bledsoe's salary isn't what I think Ant will be getting at all...but if Ant is gone. we'll have a backup vet...that's what I took from it.

If the Blazers are looking for a backup big, here are a few that jumped out to me on the Free Agent list:

In all seriousness though, Isaiah Hartenstein would be a great fit. I'm just curious how much he would cost.

I also wouldn't mind getting Drew Eubanks back. Solid backup big at minimum cost.

I'd think LAC give similar to MLE $ to Hartenstein so he will just resigns there.

I'd give him the tax MLE but I don't think he's worth the hard cap issues of full MLE.

Hartenstein is a dream get for us.

I actually think he’s better than Nurk.

If the Wall rumors are true - then Hartenstein will be on a different team next week

Initially I assumed Wall was a vet minimum. So Wall is an MLE player? Think I'd rather have Hartenstein.

We never have a hard time finding minutes for everybody because they all get hurt! But seriously, the best players will get the most minutes and that’s the way it goes.

Why would you think he was 35? He was the same draft as Dame!

Here are what the numbers look like assuming Nurk gets 4/68 and Ant gets 4/80. Right under the tax for 12 players. With one minimum contract we can get to 13 players and be right at the tax line. That's some fine planning by Joe.

We can use the full MLE without hitting the apron. If we trade Bledsoe or take anyone into the Covington TPE, I think it's more likely we use the TPMLE. I don't really see how we can stay out of the tax if we want to make a few more moves to compete, but if we get turned down by everyone we'll be out of it.

Sign Eubanks then see if you can use our exception for someone you really think can improve the team.

We should stick to the tax MLE unless its a much better player available for the full MLE. If its a much better player then it may be worth giving up that flexibility, or having to make other moves to stay under the apron. I would be very surprised if there is a free agent the Blazers can sign worthy of that difference.

Hopefully Joe doesn't grossly overvalue a free agent and give them the full MLE as Olshey did with DJJ.

I was just thinking its been many years Barnes has been in Sacramento and a possible wing trade target, then before that he was a lead scorer in Dallas a number of years, then before that he was a part of contending teams in Golden State for a number of years, and before that he was a young player in Golden State for a number of years.

Seems like he has been part of the league with as many different periods of his career as a 35 year old veteran. Then I looked at his age and was very surprised he's only just turned 30 last month.

Dont forget free agency is like an auction, if you have a player you like you better know someone else will too. If you look in the dumpster maybe not, but if theres a player that absolutely fits what your need is, be willing to pay for it.
