NOOOOOOOO! We don’t want to use this pick!!!!!! Neither does Dame!!!!!!

Very few teams on that list that haven't been laggards for a long time. Some of those teams are chronic laggards at tanking because they are constantly in the lottery

15% of the league are legit contenders every year
45% are average
40% below average

NBA is all about Playoff basketball thats why so many are able to get in, its what drive fandom and TV contacts. It also helps when LA has a team in them, but thats not the case this year.

Well if for some reason Cronin is made the permanent GM, I suspect that if this pick is 7th or higher we might see it traded back to the Hornets for their 13th pick which will be used to trade for Jerami Grant the player Cronin, Dame and Chauncey have targeted and the 15th pick that we would use on the BPA. That's unless we move up into the top three and then I could see us using it. All bets are off if the job is given to someone besides Cronin which should be what happens but the Vulcans don't often do what should be done in regards to our team.

The fixation on Grant baffles me. Looking at various mocks, the 7-10 range has guys like Mathurin, Davis, and Griffon who could have as much or more long term value at less cost.

Uh yes we DO want to use this pick and if Dame thinks we can get a truly impactful player via trading it (unless it's for multiple picks one of which we swing for Grant which is fine) he is sadly mistaken, especially with Sell Low Joe at the helm other GM's will fleece him.

Oh shit I didn't know Pippen's son was in this draft. Is he projecting as a second round pick? Wouldn't mind picking him up in the second round.

No need to waste a draft pick on him, he'll go undrafted.

I just like picking up NBA kids because they seem to be better than projected.

But yeah, if he's only 6 inches tall it wouldn't make much sense.
I don't know a player who is only 6 inches tall would be tough to guard provided he had elite speed. He could easily get into the paint and drop it off to bigs.

If you think we can get a “truly impactful player” with this pick that fits Dame’s timeline…YOU are sadly mistaken.

Can we get an impact vet that fits Dame’s timeline?
Same answer btw
This.

We aren’t getting an impactful vet with the #7th pick that’ll make us more than first round fodder.

The fact is… trading the 7th pick for a vet is going to improve our title odds 0%.

Keeping the 7th pick is going to improve our odds by .01% because there is a “chance” we get a star/superstar.

To me it’s a pretty clear and obvious choice.

Name one we can get. If you can't then this is a HUGE mistake which is my entire point.

This, but I'd bump those odds up to like 5%+ with us drafting someone if we find the hidden All-Star super star at 7 or lower. That IS possible. Getting a player that helps us win the title who is a vet in a trade is not gonna happen unless it's Ben Simmons and then it's a crap shoot. Literally nobody available can be had that cheap outside of Simmons and most of the board hates him (perhaps with good reason) so I mean is that even a thing and would the Nets give up on him this soon?
