The problem would’ve been finding the extra piece in a Suns deal for them to pull the trigger. If not Allen, we would’ve had to find another player they wanted, and we didn’t have anything to trade to even acquire a guy like that. The guys who went back to the Suns were Nas and Keon, two guys that don’t get back anything of value on their own. Had this been discussed by fans before a Dame trade request, I think a lot of us would’ve thought we would have to use a 1st to find that piece to send to the Suns.

Then, there would be the salary issue. I still don’t think that team could be good enough to make the finals this year, which would be the goal. Then in the summer of ‘24, we’re talking about paying 3 guys in Dame, DA, and Grant who would make up how much of the payroll? Then Shae’s extension would start in a couple years. AND we’d have to think about unprotecting the 1st to allow for trading more 1sts to improve the team, something I would really be sick about.

In the end, the breakup was needed. No sense in doing what-ifs.

Ant/Shae with Brogdon as the super-sub sounds pretty good to me as well. And I don't know what Grant will fetch in 44+ days, but I'm excited to find out.

I should also say this, shout out to Walker Kessler. He looked like he knew as soon as Shae left the floor that he was going to get dunked on if he contested. No business decisions considered, he went for it and got baptized. And less than 60 seconds later, he came back for more.

Outside of needing a long cold shower and an examination in his relationship with God LOL, he’s going to be fine.

Nothing wrong with getting dunked on twice in the same minute young fella. Love the effort. He earned a new fan in me today.

Kind of ironic but you remove TimeLord who is irrelevant and swap Brogdon for Dame it might be the closest roster we could have put around Dame to contending since Wes snapped his Achilles.

Supposedly Dame was heavily against the Nurk for Ayton swap and there's the difficulty of what player we'd have needed to add for Phoenix to still do it without Grayson Allen.

Wonder what Dame would think if you showed him this possible roster now. Any regrets? He doesn't seem like the type to ever look back in hindsight though.

I still tend to think we're much better set for the future having clearly been able to move on from the Dame era, not to mention the 3 picks and 2 swaps we also will have.

But mostly this just reinforcers to me how bad an idea it is to give star players input on roster construction.

Is that true? I’ve seen for more than one season, reports that Dame wanted DA in Portland. But for that to ever have been a possibility during Dame’s tenure, Nurk was going to have to be gone, right?

Mine are 3.5 and just over 2. They don't seem to sleep when i want them to. Easier to just let them watch with me.

I guess that was a game you can feel good about and still be a loss. Certainly was exciting. They played well enough to win. They tightened up the defense and pushed the game to OT. Lots to be positive about.
There will be some teaching moments throughout the season and i would assume that game will be used for a few of them.

Yeah he was rising to the occasion throughout this trip.
I liked the fire he is starting to show. Not playing shy at all. He's starting to impose his will a bit more. Kid will be very special for sure if this continues.

Should be. Maybe the Dawn? Like the dawn of a new day? Or is Dame going for "The Don" as in Mob Boss?

I am not exactly sure what you are suggesting. We need multiple players who can score in crunch time. One is not enough. But yes at some point Shae will be option number 1. But he needs to show it over a longer period before we start removing anyone who might threaten that. I think once he becomes the dominant player on the team, his teammates will defer. But his last 5 games have been very encouraging.

Too much adrenaline. Got raging insomnia.

Cats never get insomnia. They have it good. Lashanna playing with one of her toys, which is good since it means she ins't playing with my watch, glasses, knitting needle.....
