Considering Simons, Brogdon, Grant, Ayton, Tisse, and Timelord didn’t play, the youngins had several turnovers, and the Blazers weren’t getting their fair share of foul calls… I don’t think they did too bad last night.

Nobody ever said he was in that league, did they? Because you couldn't watch his G-League games and think that.

That's not fair. It's only going to be like that after we trade Brogdon and Grant.

Yeah, some were definitely making that claim, although I definitely recall many people pre-draft pointing out that his athleticism was a bit overstated, and that the Thompsons were on another tier above him. Anyone who was expecting Russ 2.0 was setting themselves up for disappointment.

Season? more like next 2-4 years.
If the vets we have can play well then maybe the youngsters can make it exciting.

I know the prevailing wisdom is all "develop the rookies", but I really do wish we could see how the vet lineup would perform. I think Brogdon and Ant would complement each other nicely.

young Westbrook is a bad comp for just about everybody, except for maybe Morant. His athleticism was thru the roof. He's the Harley Davidson of athleticism and the moped of BBIQ

young Derrick Rose may be a closer comp in playing style, but again, that guy was a phenomenal athlete before the injuries. Rose averaged 17-6-4 as a 20 year old rookie with a 16.0 PER and a pretty anemic TS% of .516, and a decent assist/turnover ratio of 2.52

I think that Scoot can match that kind of production and could actually might beat that efficiency

Harley Davidson of athleticism? The average Royal Enfield feels more athletic than the average Harley Davidson. Harley Davidson is so un-athletic that Harley Davidson had to buy and market a new brand (Buell) because no-one associates Harley Davidson with athletic endeavors.

Associating mopeds with low IQ is another questionable simile - a moped is the exact kind of thing you want in tight urban environment which is what they were designed for.

You just called a young Russel Westrbrook a fat, unathletic, image only smart basketball player.

... and now back to your regular programming.

by the way, at the risk of another spanking, I think they were metaphors, not similes.....:)

Sir, I know that this is an internet forum and things can veer on the personal opinion side and are not necessarily fact based, but we have to have a common baseline to communicate on and HD as a symbol of athleticism is a line too far.

As for Mr. language person - the internets have provided the following -
"The difference is that similes make the comparison by saying that something is like something else but metaphors make the comparison by saying that something is something else. A simile says that one thing "is like" or "is as … as" another thing. A metaphor says that one thing "is" another thing."

With that, I believe my word choice was correct, but I am going to suspect someone better versed in English lexicography might offer a differing opinion.

On my way to the Blazers sports forum I took a wrong turn and accidentally ended up in an English lexicography forum instead.

Murray will have a longer NBA career than Rupert, IMO.

Get outta here with that logic shit....

Right? I mean, blame the coaching all we want for the choices of who was in last night, but to nit pick about how they looked in the face of the Suns starters...is frikin idiotic. Personally, I liked what CB did. I don't give a rats ass about winning that game. (Just don't try to make Scoot play Ralph Miller 1/2 court BB, please...). I want to see level 2 and level three guys up against serious real NBA competition, and how they respond. It was obvious to me that Sharpe can handle it. We already know that Simons and Ayton can handle it. Scoot is just a kid, and I would have been amazed if he was showing he is ready. At LEAST a year. When he turns on the jets, he's almost as quick to the basket as Dame was. Give him time. Walker has earned his spot (early sub?) through effort. Just don't let him try to dribble behind his back. Reath could get the 3 spot. Duop, duop, duop! He's a 50's music style!

Like someone said, Knox on the move is really hard to defend. He's long with the ball. Mays is fine as a backup, not sure why everyone is so down on him. Love Minaya's effort. Hard to dismiss Brown's size as a #3 big. Will Butler ever develop? Does he have the girth to stall bigs in the paint?

As point guards, Mays and Scoot look much better playing with guys they have played with for a while. Last night, Mays looked bad until Knox, a guy he has played with before, came in the game and they combined for some easy buckets.
That will take some time with all the point guards.
