Yeah, but think of all the people we can house on the streets. Cardboard boxes are cheaper than Monopoly hotels... SLC and all their cleanliness can't match that.

How can something like an allstar game make people like you so angry? Did you actually think you were going to sit down and watch a pure game of basketball? You people just set yourself up for such a gigantic let down….even during the allstar break? Amazing.

The era of player empowerment is slowing creeping into the era of player entitlement, all under Adam Silver's watch.

SGA, a first time All-Star, was asked how do they fix the All-Star Game. His answer...pay me more. The honor of being recognized as an All-Star has seemingly become a burden.

In the past, All-Stars were required to be in town on the Friday of All-Star Weekend. According to Brian Windhorst, there were numerous players that didn't even arrive until Sunday.

And the ratings are the direct result of player apathy. The NBA doesn't care, the players don't care, why should the fans care?

I would guess a lot of that is a one-year blip. NBA players aren't itching to spend extra time in SLC. The biggest draw for All-Star participants has long been the party atmosphere...

But, some of it might also be the extended All-Star break backfiring. There's as much incentive to make it a mini-vacation now as there is to attend another game.

I think you are right on this. If it was in Miami or Vegas or lets say New York/LA you can bet players would be quicker to get there.
I'm wondering if the NBA will try doing the All Star game in Hawaii at some point? Maybe even Europe?

The game means absolutely nothing. Go back to East Vs. West and have it determine home court for the finals.

The NFL's All-Star game (The Pro Bowl) was flag football this year.

The NBA season is a grind, if the players want a game that is more fun and high scoring then let them.

Have the All-NBA team vs the All-Star team after the finals.

They only did that because the Pro Bowl was long ago pronounced dead, and no one cared if they made it worse. Is that really the model we want to follow for the All-Star game?

Playin tournament, soon a mid-season mini tourney thing, looks like the NBA is prepared to replace the all-star with games that count.

The game was not fun and they didn’t look like they were having much fun. There used to be some pride in demonstrating that you are the best of the best. This year, they were just standing around. Tatum’s record is meaningless. Any player could’ve scored 54. Kobe and MJ took it seriously. So did AI and McGrady. All Star MVP was a real accomplishment. Also the way they score the game now is way too confusing for a casual fan. They keep starting at 0-0 at the start of each quarter. How does some guy watching at a bar even follow that? And what is the entertainment value of 5 guys literally standing still as Ja Morant drives into the paint and dunks? It wasn’t always like this.

All-star game MVP gets 7 fouls a game for the rest of the season, including playoffs.

What if it was an All-Star tournament? Teams of 6?

If the NBA only cares about the players having fun then so be it. I thought it was for the fans, and the fans clearly hate the current state of all-star weekend. It's really unwatchable.
