I’m still at draft best player available though. But yeah I’d prefer size. Thank god Sharpe isn’t 6’2 or 6’3”
Well….we do need a real backup PG, not a PG in name only (CJ, Ant). Still, I’d rather draft for size.
It's the only right choice to have reasonable expectations within the circumstances at play. I laugh when people get mad about not getting the unrealistic expectation met. Might as well get mad at losing the Powerball every time. (Please use common sense before making the strawman).
When I've watched Kansas play, I've liked Wilson much better, but it may have just been the specific games I've seen.
No one here is having unrealistic expectations. You’re thinking of the Wemby thread, this is the 2023 Draft thread lol.
1st pick-Ausar Thompson, Cason Wallace, GG Jackson, Jett Howard 2nd - Noah Clowney, Dereck Lively, Trayce Jackson-Davis, DaRon Holmes, Tristan Vukcevic, Caleb Love, Oscar Tshiebwe
If I see any reports about us being interested in GG Jackson with our lotto pick in June I legit will have a panick attack LOL.
Anthony Black fits that role. Black would probably be the primary ball handler for us off the bench right away and he’s the size of Cade Cunningham. Black isn’t as gifted of a shooter or scorer as Cunningham, but he plays defense and can handle the ball well. He makes good decisions and is probably one of the more NBA-ready players in the draft. Black probably makes even more sense for us if we insist on running it back with Simons. We could sub Ant out early for Sharpe and play Ant when Black is also on the floor, but have Black be the primary facilitator. Ant as the primary ball handler makes us too stagnant on offense. Between Giddey, Lamelo, Lonzo, Haliburton, Cunningham, etc, the league has a bunch of big guards who operate as PGs now.
He would be a great fit next to any combination of 2 guards of dame, Simons, and sharpe. I think he would really raise the floor of this team and even the ceiling a little
I would love Dereck Lively with our second pick. With a 7 foot 8 wingspan, he’s gonna be an elite rim protector. He also move well, so he can switch a little. Even though he mostly play around the rim on offense, he has a hidden skill of passing. He is the dynamic center we all have wanted
If there are no high potential wings left on the board, Lively is who I go after as well. Something about him makes me worry he will be another Willie Cauley-Stein though.
Im confused. Do we want to make the playoffs or not? The pick we owe Chicago that prevents us from including future picks in trades is what's confusing me.
