You might be right, but Embiid and Blake Griffin both missed a full year and had pretty good careers. Even if his career is set back, he wouldn't be drafted as a top-5 guy like he would (have probably) be(en) without an injury, so taking him at #23 seems to have a discount built in... so it's nothing but upside. He could be Harry Giles, of course, too, but that dude looked terrible (3.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg) in his only year at Duke after a major knee injury. And he still went #20 in the draft.
