Intentionally? Doubtful. I know that my Vikings were late making their pick back in 2003 and dropped 2 spots, but I don't know if it impacted salary slotting, or how the NBA handles that.

They would just trade down with SA for a future 2nd rather than something like that if it was truly just about saving a little $

I'm operating under the premise that Cronin is incapable of actually consummating a draft-day deal.

Blazers are thinking Ron Holland is all I have heard? I know nothing else but I have heard that.

Yes, by far this is the most likely outcome. As another poster said Cronin always waits for a deadline to do trades (Norm, CJ,Hart, Dame training camp deadline, etc)

Yeah we'll have to see how this works. I like the idea of more time for trades as well as being able to follow what happens in the second round. Jokic was drafted during a taco bell commercial.

They could do 20 picks first day but have them 8 minutes. Gives FO a bit more time for trades. Then second day do 5 minutes up to pick 45 and 3 minutes.

Or maybe just do lottery picks day 1 with 10 minutes between each pick. Second day picks 15-35. Add a third day of picks 36-60.

How about free agency before the draft?

Maybe change free agency so day1 teams can agree to extensions, rookie extensions, resign their own players. Day 3 teams can begin talking with other teams free agents

NBA free agency, the draft, and the trade deadline are my 3 favorite parts of the NBA season, that is outside Blazers playoff games. Anything to extend or make those periods more entertaining I'm in support of.

I love this time of year!

    Here’s my big-board -
    upload_2024-6-25_21-43-8.png

I’d like to see the Blazers grab
    7 - Clingan or Buzelis
    14 - Ware or Edey
    34 & 40 - Ingram, Smith, Missi, or Holmes

My guess is the Blazers will make a consolidation trade and end up with 3 total picks.

the new rookies would have to earn a rotation spot over Ashton Hagans.

Just talking about this “draft” with a friend up at Starbucks today. Both huge basketball fans. First year either of us are in to it. Both agreed we’ll be back next June.

Vecenie says that based on what he's hearing around the league, there hasn't been any trades yet because nobody knows what the hell Atlanta is gonna do. He also said, based on what he's hearing, it's likely that Risacher is #1.

Williams/Edey in this mock (predicated on the idea of someone moving up into the top 6 to get Clingan). Seems plausible.
