I thought Kris was at the draft. It took me a sec to remember Kings logo means Keegan.

the Hawks have never won a #1 pick. A play-in team winning the lottery? Almost as if they were rewarded for not cheating like the Blazers do every season.

Karma, gemstones, palm readings, a cauldron of witch's brew. It's the lottery and it's new & young NBA players. Not all of it matters until the season begins. Then it's wait and see afterwards.

The comps will be out in force until reality takes over. Where was Kobe Bryant selected in the draft? I'm pretty sure he wasn't a 1,2,3. Heck, even Kobe didn't have big numbers rookie season.

Everyone can be a rookie Kobe until further results. Then, you just need a Shaq, a Derek Fisher, maybe a couple Horry's. Throw in a Farmar. Steal an Odom from a nearby tank team.

The lottery dynasty is there, it's how Championships are won.

Sarr, Clingon and Topic are up there on draft boards. If they’re gone thru 6, that leaves …
Risacher — who should go early
Castle — who is getting chatter
Buzelis — looking forward to measurements on him
Cody Williams — who has slid down a little

If the Blazers get Williams, I’m happy as hell. He will take 2-3 years to develop, but IMHO will be the best forward from this draft.

7 sucks! But we may just win the draft.

Where was basketball karma last year when the Blazers moved up despite blatantly tanking?

Seems to be a year with a number of serviceable players but few stars. Unlike the women who had arguably the most star studded draft ever.

the basketball gods work in mysterious ways. Portland's franchise star was about to be traded, and the Blazers moved up. Does Atlanta have an All-Star on the trade block?

Weren't you the one saying it's better to pick later in a draft like this?

I think it does happen very often. This is the 5th time since the lottery began 39 years ago that a team with 3% or less odds has won the top pick. What are the odds of that? One out of every eight drafts results in a statistical absurdity? Imagine if car accidents happened at that rate. Every eight meals you eat out at a restaurant you will run into a celebrity(100% for HCP and Kingspeed).

I don’t care if it’s been that way for 100 years. It’s still cheating.

Crazy what can happen when you get an infusion of cash and media savvy women's hoops...

Doesn't matter. This is what it takes. And we need to do it at least 2 or 3 more years and trade Grant, Simons, and Brogdon for the best draft capital we can get. Throw in 2nds and other players if necessary to get 3 first rounders out of them.

I didn't want this, but I sure as hell don't want to half ass it now that we're here.

If there was ever a year were I would be perfectly happy to trade a lottery pick away this would be that year. Sure there’s a possibility of landing the gem in the draft but I don’t like the odds in a week draft. Package a vet (Brogdon, Ant, or Grant) and a lottery pick or two in this years draft for a good player. Who is that or is there someone out there that makes sense I’m not sure but if it’s remotely possible to get a good young upcoming player from say a playoff team that needs to win now I’d do it. I’d also consider punting our two picks in this years draft for a future pick in another year preferably unprotected or top 3 protected.

It's not cheating, it's how the NBA is intentionally setup to function.

I'm sure every other lottery team is thinking the same thing. This would be a perfect moment to zag, especially with our supposed draft guru onboard in the front office. Every draft has at least some good players. It's on our FO to find them.

Seems very unlikely as a playoff team isn't going to want a lottery pick. Maybe there's a 3 or 4 way trade this would make sense.

From Blazers perspective perhaps they see another teams young player they'd prefer over the pick, I could see that being a possibility. A Grant/Brogdon trade would probably just be a separate deal.
