By 2029-32, you do realize that every player on the current roster will be gone. Free agency or via trade or simply no longer in the league.
The way I see it...not really what I want to happen with respect to PTB- Not sure about 7? 1. Hawks - Sarr 2. Wiz - Risacher 3. Rockets - Clingan 4. Spurs - Dillinham 5. Pistons - Sheppard 6. Hornets - Castle 7. Blazers - Williams 8. Spurs - Buzellis 9. Grizz - Edey 10. Jazz - Salaun 11. Bulls - Holland 12. Thunder - McCain 13. Kings - Knecht 14. Ware
It's my super duper optimistic take. It's what i learned from "the other" Blazers fan forum. -Scoot will be full All-Star mode -Anfernee top 6 scoring leader - Shaedon suprises everyone by morphing into Dominique Wilkins - The new rookies will all become 3 way super kids. Basically different sizes and variations of Paolo Banchero. 2029 is only 5 years away. Then and only then will Cronin's championship vision become too radical for the league to contain. Now.. please green box my comment with a bunch of likes. It feels great to be part of the "positive only" team.
ESPNs newest big board they put out today (they stopped showing how far the guys had fallen or risen after 24): 1. Zaccharie Risacher 2. Alex Sarr 3. Donovan Clingan 4. Reed Sheppard 5. draft the Wildcat point guard. The Rob & Ashton backcourt off the bench would be intense. All Kentucky all day ! Can we still count Shaedon's no show as a Wildcat ?
No they have a mock draft. This is just their big board. Who they think the best players in this draft are. There were 100 all together but I didn't feel like fucking with anything after number 70.
if Rob is better then Skylar Mays, and Jamaree Bouyea, then the Blazers will show improvement. Backup Point Guard is hella important, and the Blazers need help at every position.
Why not aim for at least a future legit starter with the 7th pick. Sharpe, Dame, BRoy picked in that range
I hope you are right. I would love to have Williams, Buzelis and Holland to choose from. Which one is the question. My latest thought, and it changes daily, is going with Holland at 7 and hope to hell his offense develops enough to close games. I would love to watch Scoot, Sharpe, Holland, and Camara run the floor. Or even move Holland to PF on occasion and sub in another shooter. (Maybe Rupert or George? Watching highlights of George and his ability to throw a really nice lob pass (i.e Holland and Sharpe) and his ability to play several positions, I think he would be a good alternative to Holland at the wing. He has excellent range on his 3 ball
I'm so out on Buzelis. Limited vision, weak on strength, very shaky shot, turnover prone, limited ball handling skills. The attractive thought with him was if he could be some kind of Lamar Odom-type. But he's nowhere near. I think scarcity matters - Holland, Salaun, Williams, Ware, Castle, Clingan are the guys I'm most interested in with 7 and 14. I'm only focused on guys who are projected to be a plus on defense and that have size and length. In the case of Castle, Clingan, Salaun and Holland, I think all have the potential to be culture guys too. We've been so removed from having a functional basketball team since the days of Dame and CJ. They should assume Scoot and Shae will blossom and get players who can make the game easier for them.
I'm not even sure most teams know who they want yet, so I doubt anyone doing these mocks are very accurate.
I don't know which is the most accurate. Back in the day, it was NBADraft.net, but they have declined precipitously. What I would be VERY happy with is if it turned out the way NBADraftRoom currently had theirs. #7 - Salaun #14 - Holland #34 - Chomche #40 - Flowers (although with the players they have available, I'd prefer one of: Dillon Jones Adem Bona Enrique Freeman Jonathan Mogbo (fascinating journey) Harrison Ingram
Funny part about that I can just as easy see us taking Holland at #7 and Salaun at #14. If I could only have one, I think I would choose Ron...
Quinten Post is an interesting 7' sharpeshooter that moves on D. Not with any of our picks, but, worth a shot if we could snag a late second.
because everyone gets mad at this draft. It's been a broken record of calling this summer a subpar rookie class. They tell us the #7 pick this season is more or less a Jaquez Jr, a Kris Murray, a Camara. You'd be lucky to find a Duop Reath. Now... how many times have the draft experts been completely wrong? What if this draft class turns out much better then expected? There's only one way to find out, which is choose your rookies and get them on the court.
