I will change my mind when he does it consistent over games. Not saying he will never be a decent player in this league but right now I have my doubts how much he can help us the first part of this season.

Among starters, only Clingan and Jrue had positive +/-.

Loved Hansen's game, but implying he should play ahead of DC is lunacy.

Thank you for reminding me how people here infer something that was never intended. I forgot about that bullshit during the off-season.

I don't think he should be starting ahead of Clingan now because the game comes at him too fast on defense but by the time it slows down for Yang on the defensive end Clingan better have figured out how to convert when he's wide open in the restricted area.

Right now the only thing that keeps Clingan ahead of Yang on the depth chart is the fact that we're a defense first team. I don't think Hansen being a mediocre drop coverage Center and a very dynamic big on offense is very far behind Clingan being an exceptional drop coverage Center on defense and being an absolute zero on offense.

Your post had a clear message. If that's not what you meant, no worries.

So how was Hansen? Stats seem ok.

I don't think what I bolded is true at all; it's really going overboard to say Yang is "dynamic" on offense. He wasn't dynamic in the CBA, or in summer league, and one good game in preseason doesn't make him dynamic either

also, saying Clingan is a zero on offense completely dismisses the value of offensive rebounding. Dennis Rodman was a "zero" on offense too but his offensive rebounding had elite impact for his teams

last season Walter Kessler led the NBA among 'qualified' players with a 16.6% offensive rebounding rate. Clingan didn't qualify because of minutes but his offensive rebound rate was 17.3%, and would have led the NBA. If Clingan maintained his rate while averaging 28 minutes, he'd average 4.5 offensive rebounds. And possessions after offensive rebounds are some of the most valuable in the NBA

    also:

kind of a strange pair of stats with missing players. Wemby would obviously lead in blocks/36 but doesn't qualify because of his truncated season. Clingan would rank 2nd in block percentage behind Wemby with his 7.5% rate.

Clingan is a better rebounder on both ends of the floor; he's a lot better rim protector, shot intimidator, and paint defender. Clingan adds a lot of value and proved it last season.

We need DC to start. He is more equipped to guard against starting centers. Yang will get destroyed. Yan can excel against backup centers. Clingan is an excellent paint protector.

Was at the game. Have a huge beef they only show players stats that are on the floor on the new screens. Occasionally they flip up stats for players currently on the bench. But I want to see the stats of players not on the court right under who’s on the floor. They need to bring that back.

yeah, I didn't really get he was implying that. He's been a pretty big Yang fan and was just reacting to a good game by Yang

It was only a preseason game, but....
14 pts in one quarter is pretty fire. My guess is that plenty of current Blazers haven't done it.
