Playing against college players for a year doesn't prove anything. He was playing against future college players.
yeah...you have to be right...high school is equal to a quality collage team...hey, have an idea for you. go check out the numbers of guys in HS that want to play ball versus the numbers of guys that are stand out collage players..dont make me say dumb ass
Simons has mad skills....to beat the Warriors you have to run with them...he's got deep range from 3....we're trying to beat small ball champs, not the Grizzlies
"Potential 2018 NBA Draft prospect Anfernee Simons is an effortless athlete and smooth 3-level scorer who can get to his pull up at will. Tight handle, sharp footwork, soft touch on floaters."
I never said they were equal though. Just that it isn't something thats going to affect or determine his career, and it's irrelevant to what he could become.
From https://www.sbnation.com/college-ba...-nba-draft-2018-recruiting-louisville-florida He already has an endorsement from an NBA player From Schmitz: Anfernee Simons and Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell are very close. I asked Mitchell about Simons after a Lakers preseason game in October: "He's talented. He can score at all 3 levels. The main thing I talk to him about is just defense because scorers are easy to come by, scorers who play defense aren't. I've been talking to him a bunch. I wish him the best of luck. He's just a talented kid. Athletic. Knows where to be, knows the game, and I think that's rare to find in a kid that age. He has a bright future."
Maybe there's a CJ trade in the works. There might be one or two posters here who would be happy with that. I don't think that's it of course. I think Simon's is a project. It's like getting a lottery pick next year. This pick doesn't get us to the finals next year, but no other player at 24 had a predictable probability of doing that either. It's like grabbing a free lottery pick a year early. How else were the Blazers going to get a lottery pick? All picks are a gamble. This one is strategically a great long term move.
I think when people want him to do something "ballsy," they mean and have meant a move that makes us better before Damian Lillard is in his 40s. This pick, to me, is very Neil Olshey; a project that he can "take a chance on" and take all the credit if it goes well or blame lack of confidence or whatever he says about Meyers if it doesn't work out.
