There was like 2 seconds left on the clock, I think it would have been smarter to hold on to the ball or, at the least, PASS IT to a teammate...but he chose to throw it up.

Yes, I have. When games end, players throw balls FORWARD, while still high in the air. Either way, the ball goes towards the other end, it doesn't float up in the air low enough that an opposing player can catch it and throw up a game winning shot.

You mean you haven't seen a player throw the ball towards the opponent's basket? That's what he should have done and that's what many have done before.

Not too mention the Raps had no more timeouts left. We were losing by three, all he needed to do was make one free throw and it would have iced the game.

I don't think he knew how much time was left, so thats why you hold the ball, players can't always see the clock.

Amazing game, anyone know where I could possibly "view" it again? [IMG]

NJ lost so it looks like our magic number is down to 4 (nets losses or raptor wins).

I guess so, but you cannot blame that entire outcome on Michael Ruffin. Caron Butler missed 2 crucial free throws at a minute and a half, the clockpeople had malfunctions with the clock twice, which stopped play. The Wizards let countless layups and open 3's go by and not to mention on that last play in OT that Gilbert Arenas didn't go for another three, instead he tried to drive in with 5 seconds left only to see himself get blocked.

Don't blame it on Ruffin, it's not like you guys give him any credit if he does hold on to the ball, instead he gets the blame if he messes up.

His defense on Chris Bosh from the second quarter on helped them erase a 13-point lead but that is all forgotten. After the game, Ruff said he merely wanted to kill the clock but he didn't get a good grip on the ball, it slipped and, well, we all know what happened next.</div>

That doesn't matter though. He screwed up on a routine play and eliminated what should have been a win. I mean, he's not the only reason they lost (they still had overtime to play), but that game was basically over before he lost all sense.

did anyone see the washington feed during "the shot"? It's an instant classic:
    "NOOOO! Not possible! Not possible!!"

No one's blaming Ruffin for the loss entirely, but that still doesn't change the fact that that was probably one of the most boneheaded plays in nba history. I'm just glad we're on the other end of a monumental embarrassment for once.

We got lucky on this one for sure.... but whatever, a win's a win and it was probably one of the best games in Raptor history.

I wonder if anyone noticed that he started chuckling up and laughing a little bit after he said that.

Wiz fans can blame Ruffin all they want, but the end result of a game, is a culmination of a series of events. Case in point, Caron Butler's 2 missed free throws late in the game. Wiz as a team missed an inexcusable amount of shots at the stripe. Had Caron even made one of those two he missed, Ruffin's mental lapse wouldn't have made a difference.

Bosh's dominance in OT shows just what a special player we have. We're lucky to have him on our team. For a guy who gets knocked for not being a very good defensive player, he sure did come up huge with 2 big time defensive plays when they mattered most. Big up CB4...the guy is a straight up STUD!

This game was huge. Raps winning 2 games, against 2 tough teams, both battling us for the same playoff season, AFTER we lose Garbo, is BIG. Going into Washington and picking up a big road win, before going home to face a team that we really should beat, before going back on the road for 3 more games is also BIG. This game mattered, and the Raps took care of business. Joey, Juah, Bosh, TJ, all had HUGE games.

Finally someone agrees with me. It's funny how no one mentioned that he had us in the game in the first place forcing Bosh to some misses when he was in.

haha this is seriously one of the most unforgiving threads. We win an amazing game and sam and TJ still get hammered here. I don't get why ppl constantly berate TJ's penetration to the bucket nearing the end of games. IT WORKS. sure it's predictable but his speed and size allows him to be successful with that play. How many games this season has that play set us up for a win. I think Sam deserves more credit after that game, just the way he was able to manage the time and that set Juan Dixon 3 play after the timeout was HUGE. I would have thought after last night's game more confidence would be put on sam and ford.

Are you serious? The only time that play has ever been successful (if you can call it that) is if we miraculously get the offensive rebound and put up another shot. The TJ penetration and putting up a wild shot play never works at the end of the game. This is Sam's only play. I can't believe you're actually giving Mitchell credit for using the exact same play every single time, especially when it never works.
