Just trying to piece together rumors to see if Windys prediction of a trade on Friday could involve Zion. Are you certain of these numbers?

I am well aware of my ignorance in all this so I only have one basic predictive algorithm: it's not possible to overestimate how monumentally stupid NBA front offices can be. Case in point: Phoenix

Cronin could very well do something monumentally stupid. He's under the pressure of having a top-3 pick (although he performed well with a 7th pick a year ago); he has the Vulcan's looking over one shoulder squawking about tax; Dame looking over the other shoulder squawking about tanking; and he's second in line behind Charlotte trying to guess what they'll do. And all this is happening while a tsunami of bullshit floods the NBA coastline and a hurricane of lies blasts the landscape

I’m so torn on the possibility of trading for Zion. He’s huge risk but also one of the very few players in the league that could help make us contenders. I don’t want to trade 3rd pick but if it happens to be for Zion I would be a less upset than if we trade 3rd pick for Siakam, Porz, Bridges, or any of the other names out there. At same time I’d be scared to death it would set us back 4-5 years if hes not able to stay healthy (physically or mentally).

If we get Zion, please do whatever it takes to also get Herb Jones. Add another first if we have to.

    Wording is so confusing.

So incoming would be 35. Outgoing would be 13 for NO. This is quite tricky.

yeah...a huge amount of salary would have to be moving to absorb that kind of differential

much simpler to arrange trade at the draft and complete it in July

Listening to the Nat'l sports radio shows, it's obvious, to me, that most of the host don't want Zion to come to Portland, and want Dame traded. They want Portland to be irrelevant and go away. Go sit in the corner kid. Don't speak till your spoken to. Dame and Zion has the potential to be lethal. When Denver won, it forced these clowns to trip over their tongues. I'd like us to have a shot at that.

Go big or go home. If Zion was 27 I’d be hesitant but he’s 22. He has years of being able to eat horribly and still get away with it. Strike now and hope he matures later. If you get Zion and figure out a way to upgrade Nurk (ayton or brook lopez?), we are contenders.

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Grant
    Zion
    Lopez

He's fat. I get Shawn Kemp vibes. At least Kemp wasn't fat till his later years. Zion has been porky since day one. You have to question his work ethic. Question it is an understatement. It's almost obvious that he's got no heart. A guy that made it purely on natural abilities and doesn't give a shit about getting better, or has much love for playing the game at all. That's just what I gather.

If there is a deal available where Scoot is all that is necessary to get Zion from the Pels then I think I would let the Hornets use their leverage. I would offer them 3 and 23 for 2. Then send Nurk, Nas, Knox and Keon along with 2 for Zion. This is assuming since they are working out both guys right now that they still like Miller and a nudge like pick 23 would make them feel comfortable going in Miller's direction. It's also assuming that our FO is comfortable with Zion and doesn't want to gamble losing an opportunity to get him.

Use Ant to Orlando to get us WCJ and maybe some bench help (Bol and Suggs maybe).

When Zion plays he's an absolute game-changer. Top ten player in the league. But you could probably have said the same about Stanley Roberts...

When I heard Zion comment that physically I'm good but I won't play till I feel like Zion, that soured me on the guy. He's always been on a pedestal since younger and some guys can handle it and some cannot. He checks out at times like he did at Duke in the tourney.
If I guy can't work hard enough to get into NBA shape physically and mentally, he'll struggle.

Put it this way: it would take a player like Zion for me not to give up on the Blazers in disgust for trading the #3. I would actually be legit intrigued about a Zion-Dame pairing. For the 10 games they would probably get together in a season...

Whether we like it or not, we have decided to build around Dame. To get him a player that may make a difference, we have to take a risk, given the paucity of assets we have. If Zion can pass a physical, we would be crazy not to trade for him.

Do this today... don't wait. This is two trades. The first between us and Charlotte would be official today and the second is a three way trade between us, NOLA and Orlando that would be agreed to today but executed on draft day because we would have to pick for NOLA at 2 to satisfy some dude named Stepien.

Just an aside, IF we were able to trade for Williamson, every single veteran shopping for a ring would put us on their list. We may be able to get impact players at a discount to fill out our bench.

Also, we would need to hire Jenny Craig as an assistant coach.

Isn't New Orleans supposed to be shooting for Scoot? Also, isn't Scoot now projected to go #2 to Charlotte, thanks to stellar workouts from him combined with Brandon Miller having mono? So let's not get too excited about the prospect of getting Zion.
