Never been and it's a bucket list place for me. I have a few extra days on a business trip and will be stopping over. Ideas? Right now I am thinking Great Wall (where is the uncrowded spot?) and Forbidden City, but there is so much!
I think you should stay there and request political asylum. They have the gun control measures you support and the resulting society that exists under those measures. I'm sure you'll feel safer there.
Forbidden palace is a good bet..other than that, find a place that roasts duck and eat it..delicious! I'm not a big fan of Beijing but the food is worth enjoying ..great wall wasn't such a big deal for me other than to say I'd been there
Never been there. I'd personally probably skip the great wall though if it were me, just seems like something that will take a while to see but then when you get there its "whatevz". I'd personally get more of a kick seeing the Buddist temples, maybe some hot springs if they have them out there with a Buddist temple. Holy shit. There's a STEPHON MARBURY statue in Beijing. This would be a bucket list item for me http://www.cbsnews.com/news/stephon-marbury-finds-stardom-peace-in-china/
Bump. Just found out I'm spending a week there in March. Any ideas? Did you have a good time @Stevenson ?
Don't eat the chicken or the cheese. Ask Hobbes, he lived there for about two years. Me? I'd see the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and one of those small towns near the North Korean border.
