I'm allergic to oxycontin and all the rest of the related pain killers. I can only take Tylenol, fentanyl, morphine and lidocaine. Which means that when I have surgery, I have to power through the immediate after and throughout the healing. It's a real bitch when they do their frequent arm surgery. God, how I dread that arm surgery. The keep me awake during that damned arm surgery as they did when I had about four eye surgeries and two heart ablation surgeries. One of the heart surgeries hurt like hell and I couldn't move a muscle to indicate my pain and one of the eye surgeries went very badly and painfully lasting about an hour and leaving me blind in that eye.
Pardon me while I puke. I suppose you think I should have kept my cancerous thyroid gland when it was cut out and placed it in a glass jar rotating on a spindle with a light shining on it above the fireplace.
Medicare? Are you that old? I'm not voting for you as President. Damn, and here I thought you were near a perfect candidate.
Man Lanny I wish you could get one, have you gotten other opinions? Sometimes things just don't seem fair in this journey of life.
I have a artificial right eye, had it for 47 years. When I played in a pool league and had to take a leak, id take my eye out and put it on the table rail and tell em Im going to keep an eye out for you nimrods! Ill be back. When i lost it the doc's had me play lots of ping pong for depth perception which helped. It never handicapped me at all and I went on to play city league sports at a very competitive level till my early 50's.
I only get the opinion of the VA. That and Medicare are my only medical coverage. I've got dialysis three times a week and they say I wouldn't stand up to dialysis during my intial recovery. I did get two opinions at the VA.
I had my left knee replaced 12 days ago and still can't bear much weight or have any ROM (65 degrees). I hope this gets better. My pt is torture. I leave convulsing in pain.
I had hernia surgery Tues morn...today is the first day I can walk around a bit...no lifting...less discomfort...first two days it was like 3 knives in my gut...lot of sleep that first 48 hours...thankfully the VA paid for everything and was great all along the process. 5 weeks and change until I should be back to full activity
Great! Darn glad it is working out for you. I guess I haven't got it to go for that major stuff like you do. I just get by with what I've got, make it do. Had a ligament in my right knee severed by bamboo spear in a ruckus on an island west of Mindanoa, way back. It sort of just slipped right in there, between the upper and the lower. Learned to walk again and compensate. Heck, I can still single hand a sailboat, don't need to run like a safety after a pass. Glad hear it's doing well.
I use to do 100 situps routinely and more than that on occasion. Then, I got to the point where I had trouble doing 100. Then it was 50. I chalked it up to old age. Then they did a study when they were thinking about giving me an access point in my belly for doing peritoneal dialysis and they found a hernia. Doc said he would fix it in a jiffy while he was in there giving me my access port. I was gonna do it but my wife vetoed the whole project because she thought peritoneal dialysis involved too many difficult tasks. So, I now have a hernia with little hope of getting it repaired. Of course, I'm no longer capable of doing any activity that would interfere with a hernia, so that's that. Too bad, I figure from what I've heard that peritoneal dialysis would leave me with a lot more capability of having some physical activity in my life. Here's a message for all you married men - Please have your wives call my wife and talk her into the new procedure routine.
