WE ARENT WINNING THE DIVISION LOL! Worry about sac, grizz, okc, and hornets losing. Thats who we are fighting with for playoffs. 1 will get in. 4 wont.
You're exactly right. We struggle with teams like Philly, Golden State, Memphis, & New York - teams that can score but are know for being "bad" defensively. We do them a favor by taking jumpers and not moving the ball around. You have to admit - before tonight the ball movement has been pretty good in the last week against much better defensive teams. Up 10 in the 3rd quarter tonight, we clearly took our foot off the gas. Before you trash them for their effort tonight, try and remember what they did in the previous 7 games. If any team deserves a mulligan . . .
sheridan seems to think a trade will go down... but who? Phil B (Pdx) where do you see the blazers finishing this year? the past week has been inspired, but can they sustain it? Chris Sheridan (3:06 PM) Gotta see how they resolve their big man shortage. The Pryzbilla injury, in some ways, was just as devastating as Oden's. I don't know how many more 36 minute outings Juwan Howard has left in his tank, and we still need to see who will end up being the odd man out among Blake-Miller-Bayless by the time the trade deadline passes, which I guess is a long-winded way of saying I have no idea how they'll fare long-term this season because I expect them to make a few significant changes fairly soon.
I wonder what Sheridan is basing this off of - conventional wisdom? Just because it makes sense for Portland to make a few "significant" changes doesn't mean it will happen. I'll believe it when I see it.
Which is fine if the right deal isn't there. The last thing this team needs is a desperation trade to be a contender for this season only. If things work out, cool. If not, they'll be back.
Who's the say what's the right deal? If you want a guarantee in sports trades then you will never make one. KP won't make a dumb deal, but I have a feeling he won't make any significant deal outside the draft.
The right deal would be a move the helps now and the in the future. Making a move that only helps this year would be a disaster imo. The cake is still baking.
How do they even know what kind of cake is in the oven at this point? The blue print appeared to be a slow paced, efficient, & defense/rebounding oriented style anchored by a big shot blocking front court. What is the identity of this team going forward if Oden can't stay healthy? If not, what type of guy (that we can sign/trade for/draft) do we shoot for? Assuming a franchise Center isn't in the cards, do we stick with this style? Or, do we go more small ball/uptempo?
The only short-sighted move would be to blow the team up and trade away Roy, LMA and/or Oden, everybody else is secondary and ultimately superfluous. Most moves people are talking about consist of moving players that unlikely to be part of any longterm plans
You're assuming what KP is thinking here, and I'd bet he'd probably disagree with you. There are really no big moves to be made, especially the ones people on this forum want. Some of the trades I've seen suggested on this forum are beyond ridiculous and those people should be banned.
So what was the Andre Miller signing all about? This year and next year? at best! All I'm saying is that was NOT a good move.
