Oh well, I think it's stupid to speculate what could've been. Chicago made the right move, leave it at that.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>If Philly took Jordan they would not have gotten Barkley because both were part of the 84 draft (MJ 3rd, Barkley 5th).</div>but weren't they offering dr. j for the third pick so they would have had both picks? I didn't see a draft pick being part of the deal.

You don't have to tank the season just trade when you know who has the pick for sure.

I guess that would of worked. If Jordan and AI would of been on the same team Iverson would of never did that crossover on Jordan lol. Serously though I dont think AI and Jordan would of worked at all though. Everything worked out just fine.

Dean Smith had a loaded team at North Carolina and didn't use MJ's ability all that much. Hence, not to many in the basketball world knew what he was to become. And the Blazers wouldn't have been that great if they picked Jordan, they would have had like 35 shooting guards. Ooooh.</div>watchoo talkin bout? youre saying that clyde drexler and michael jordan playing together would make an average team? even w/o michael, those blazers still got to the finals twice in three years. anyways, bowie was the crappiest draft selection ever, and its good that chicago denied that trade offer. I wonder how much things would have changed by now if that trade actually happened tho.

I just can't see a team working with those two personalities on the court at the same time.2. Yes, as a NBA general manager you are going to trade a future NBA star coming out of college for a guy who would be retiring in a few years anyway? Yeah, like that will happen, especially when you had a sure thing like Iverson coming out that year (that is what everybody regarded him as).Look at it like this: If the Lakers offered Kobe Bryant (who is younger than both Jordan and Barkley were back in 1995-96) to which ever team lands the #1 pick. Will that team accept that deal? As great as Kobe is, I doubt they would pass up Greg Oden. Same thing in 1996.You just seem to think that making a trade or a move is so easy, but it isn't. "We could have traded this guy for the #1 pick." You probably think we could trade Bobby Jones for the #1 pick this year, right?

It's a good 12 years, domino effect people. Cards fall a different way and take a different path for the Sixers. That path is more than likely not taking the same way that led to Sixers getting the 1st overall pick in 96'. It's common sense.

Player can turn into a bust even though don't think Oden will be.haha no your gay I don't think we can trade Bobby Jones for a #1 pick this year. Now that was stupid Oden/Durant for Jones? Yeah like anyone is that stupid. What kinda fool are you?
Why would they have never work? What is your reason? AI respects Jordan, and would take 15 shots a game only or w/e.
It just wouldn't work. Jordan demands perfection and expected 200% from his teammates in practice. Iverson, as great as he is and was, had turbulent first few seasons with his coaches, management, off the court, etc. And that is just a little bit of the problem with whether or not those two would have been compatible personality-wise.On the court, there is a whole other issue. Then again, you're assuming that if Iverson was paired with Jordan coming into the league, Iverson would still have been the scoring-machine he was... which wouldn't have been the case.
Iverson was a sure-thing that year. Obviously looking back in time some franchises would have taken Kobe over Iverson, but in 1996 Iverson was the consensus #1 pick. If we could have been a bust, why would the 76ers want to trade a superstar for the #1 pick when it could have been a bust? You're thinking in hypotheticals here, but aren't even taking everything into consideration. The whole argument is a moot point because Jordan wasn't a Sixer.
As great as Kobe is, I don't think any GM would accept that deal. In today's NBA you need a big man to contend for a championship, and Oden is a once in a lifetime player.
After reading your posts on BBW, I think I should be asking you that question.EDIT: Anybody agree with me that Serge is the new mavsfan100/PFF of BBW?

That would be pretty cool if we had Jordan. Who knows what would have happened to our franchise. Championships galore? Maybe. If we did have Jordan there is no possible way for us to actually obtain Iverson in that 1996 Draft. Iverson was considered to be a sure impact player right out of college with superstar potential. Theres no way in hell I would have let the number one pick go for a Star Veteran retiring in a couple years. Don't think Jordan and AI would work even if it was possible. The two highest scoring guards in NBA history, I doubt they would click. AI had personality problems, like BigMo said, it was just WW3 waiting to happen.

And Kobe would not have been taking over Iverson if they new how he would be now probably. SI thing or w/e last summer or for get when did article re draft of 96 still had AI going 1st just like he went Kobe 2nd instead 13th.And what question should you be asking me I am confused?I am making a fair point your blind to see that a gm could have traded for a super star for #1 pick depends how exactly that gm viewed Iverson.
