see the picture of them going to see their lawyer. Looks like a family going to the lotto office to claim powerball.

Shit, I'd be using my 15 minutes of fame to make as much money as well.

To sue wouldn't they have to show damages? The kid seems to be benefiting a ton from this. Trips to the White House? Tours of MIT and Harvard? If anything he should be thanking them.

Ha! I had similar a thought. You notice it wasn't a kid name Jimmy Smith that brought bomb like device to school. No, it follows with a name like Mohammad. And it follows, that Obama weighs in.
I don't buy this bull shit story at all.

I will say this, even if it WAS done intentionally to bait the school and the police into a lawsuit, they fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

Regardless of the motive, the way that this was handled was very stupid and they left themselves wide open to litigation. If there was wrong doing, they will pay. Simple as that. The bummer is that every time this happens, it's the damn tax payers that have to foot the bill because of the actions of a politician, police officer, or school administrator.

I mean... I don't think I would be taking selfies at all, but I'm not much of a selfie taker.

I still don't get why a selfie of them smiling would make anyone think it's all a scam.

If his dog got hit by a car and he was going to sue the driver would they look like this? No fucking way.

    It's actually quite disgusting.

I guess I could see how it kinda looks like "we're off to get our phatty check! Woohoo!"

It has that "I just bought a new house!" feel to it.

Are you serious? No person or animal was hurt at all. The kid should feel good about himself and his family should be proud of him.

How the hell is it disgusting?

It's not the only reason, the whole thing smells the more I see of it. I had the same initial reaction that the school and police were morons. Now I still believe that part, just have changed how I feel about the family. If this is a multi million dollar settlement they should look sadder than my dog scenario.

Well, that's not entirely true. If they successfully sue the school district, where do you think that money comes from? It certainly isn't going to help the people in that area.

I'm not saying he did it with the intention of filing a lawsuit, and regardless of his motive it seems like it was completely mishandled by the school and the police.... with that said, if he did it to get a big payout, that's pretty scummy.

Sure, but no one has any legitimate reason to think it was just to get a big payout.

This just makes no sense at all. Sometimes you should just keep your unwarranted cynicism to yourself.

And they never will. Not unless some kind of smoking gun is found, which I highly doubt.

Quite frankly, I hope the school gets slammed. The education system needs a wake up call about their zero tolerance policies about guns and threats. Maybe if enough of them get hammered, they will open their eyes and stop wasting time and money on silly things like punishing a kid who makes his fingers into the shape of a gun.

Where did I say that it was anything other than a feeling? Are they going to waterboard them to get the truth?

Is someone going to throw a briefcase on the floor like in Brady Bunch?

I see people living up the fame of the whole thing, I can't imagine something I'd rather do less than see a lawyer for anything.

    I agree.

If any kind of policy change comes out of this it will have been a positive, whether it was all a scam or not. I don't think I would be upset even if it was somehow proven to be planned from the beginning, the school and police would still be at fault in my opinion.
