This one has been knocked about plenty on this board. The team that could most use CJ is probably the 76ers because they need shooting and with a huge PG like Simmons, they don't mind having an undersized SG. Does it make sense for us, though? Well, for the significant contingent on S2 who have been wanting to trade CJ for years, it's probably the best likely trade. And, although Harris doesn't exactly excite, as you can see he's got a better PIPM (whatever that is) than CJ, as well as a better RPM (and you KNOW how I love that stat)

Why might this happen? Well, while Olshey loves CJ, he might love Simons just as much, and he might be itching to see him finally get minutes. That's if CJ's minutes weren't simply taken by Gary Trent. Meanwhile Josh Richardson is no slouch. Plus our defense would improve MEASURABLY. Not very sexy, though - giving up one of our big three for a player who isn't regarded as the other team's "big three". But might just balance both teams more. I'm curious to see if general dislike of CJ is enough to overcome general dislike of Harris.

I think that philly would actually also give us their #21 pick too. If they add that then I would do the trade. Then use our picks to trade up in the draft. I like Harris and think he would balance out the team well. Only thing I disagree with you about is simons, he got plenty of mins this year, more than he should’ve gotten. He played nearly 21 mins a game. And was statistically one of the worst players in the league this year. Yes he can improve but if Neil doesn’t see what we saw then Neil should be fired before we make any roster moves

How many of Simons' minutes were him being played at PG? I just don't think that works for him. He's not an intuitive distributor, so when he's put in that role, he has to overthink things. Besides, Olshey can point to CJ's early struggles that ended once Wesley left and his role expanded.

You need to start a thread for every thought that pops in your head? What’s the point of the trade ideas thread if not for posts like this?

Makes Philly better and Portland worse. No upside.

No upside would be making BOTH sides worse.

I say no. CJ has more value than this in spite of some opinions on here.

Uhh dame or cj are always on the floor. So if he’s bringing the ball down the court his goal is probably to get the ball to them, how hard can that be?

CJ for KLove and #5 sounds better than that trade.

Just for shits and giggles, name a player you would place on the same level as CJ.

I do agree that CJ would probably look a lot better all of a sudden in Philly, what with more license to gun and it being the East and all, and we'd probably have a lot of whiners second-guessing the trade, but I also believe that our team would be better overall because of the improved balance and defense. Harris's contract is indeed horrendous, but CJ's isn't great either, and Harris plays both ends. Maybe insist that they give us a pick or two. They own the Suns' pick for next year - it's just a shame that the Suns are likely to be good.

I'd do it. I am now firmly in the trade CJ camp.. I've had enough. I know that trading him could possibly make us worse instead of better.. but sometimes the grass is actually greener.

Yeah, this has been the trade that I've been talking about on here for months but I along with others believe that Philly would give up the #21 pick. I don't think the trade is boring because it transforms the team. I don't think the #21 pick should be a deal breaker though because all of the reasons you pointed out make this trade a good one for us without it.
