If you have LeBron are you looking for a one year rental and then a complete rebuild or are you looking to build a dynasty with him? You realize a lot of free agents shied away from Cleveland because LeBron was non-committal to resigning.

Anyways it can't be fixed now. Amare is playing in the WCF and LeBron has plenty of time to map out his next move.

LeBron has to realize if he wants the money, fame and be a winner he needs to leave the small market team. The Spurs have been able to compete because their Big 3 all settled for less money to stay together and the Spurs had a huge head start from the rest of the league by being in favorable cap position prior to the luxury tax and new CBA being put in place. They weren't hindered with those albatross contracts.

Aside from the Spurs no other small market team has really competed consistently for a title.

No I meant, why can't they rent Amare from February-June 2010? I don't think Hickson is such a can't miss prospect, and Amare is a beast.

LeBron wins with Amare and suddenly everything is much clearer today with free agency.

LeBron failed to seize the moment once again. He's had a history of this.

Failed to win a title in high school after a dominant regular season
    His LeBronze moment
    Got swept in the Finals
Lost in the ECF despite having the best record in the regular season
Lost in Rnd 2 despite having the best record in the regular season

He lost in an EPIC ecf though, through no fault of his own. Better than Kobe played them in the Finals last year. He still shut down Pierce and played at a high level this year.

Shape, he has 3 High School titles lol.

I could've swore he lost his senior year to Carmelo's team.

Agreed, but he's still the best. And it took MJ plenty of lumps and a good set of teammates to get there.

This seems pretty backward to me Shape. I mean, if LeBron walks now, they're stuck overpaying for a shitty, over the hill Antawn Jamison for the next couple years. In the grand scheme of things, if Amare and Lebron both walked, the Cavs would be hosed and starting fresh, which does suck. But it's better than having to start with a bad contract holding you down.

I think the reality is much simpler. For whatever reason, the Cavs didn't pull the trigger on Amare, but instead wanted Jamison. They picked an old "locker room vet" instead of a young guy who would by far be the best player Lebron had ever played with. They picked wrong!

Talent wins. Not always, you still need to harness that talent, but teams are always out-thinking themselves. In this case, it's not just a matter of talent but contract too. Amare had a better contract for the Cavs because he was a one-year rental. Now they're just plain over a barrel.

That's my point it is assbackwards thinking by both LeBron and Ferry and whoever else the brain trust involved with the decision.

If I'm LeBron I'm still not signing my life away to Amare's shaky knees.

For a short playoff run sure, but I can understand why he kept his options.

How would he be signing his life away to Amare's shaky knees?
How is that better than signing his life away to Antawn Jamison's shaky game?

Because he had microfracture surgery and he might not be in his prime anymore. I prefer Chris Bosh due to youth and less scary health problems. Remember Shape is also just working off rumors.

Sign a long term contract in Cleveland, before Amare gets there? Risking your prime on the chance they get Amare, that is indeed rather risky.

If I was LeBron, I would go to the most talented team like Orlando or something. Of course, players want the most money as well.

He hasn't signed his life to Jamison nor should he. Of course if I had to choose, it would be Amare. Jamison will be done soon.

Trading for Amare doesn't require Lebron to sign an extension.

Shape was making the opposite argument.

I agreed with you but you lost track of the long discussion.

But again, that comes down to a decision on the Cavs' part, not a decision on Lebron's part
