I drive down Barbur six times a week. Never ever a problem. I've lived in SW and NW Portland, Aloha and Lake Oswego all my life so you don't need to tell me where there might be some trouble and where there is virtually none. If you want bad neighborhoods, go to St. Louis or LA or Atlanta or one of the other myriad of big cities.

Portland isn't actually Kate Brown's primary turf - the city has its own government. What exactly do you think Kate Brown has the power to do about the homeless and antifa? Blaming her for the problems in Portland may not be entirely fair. barfo
You are right. Not much in the homeless camp. But i think she could do more with the antifa issue by getting federal government more involved. Or trying to get the capital to put more eyes/funds into the situation. But you are right. Wheeler needs to pull his head out of his ass even more.
From my point of view, antifa (and their opponents Patriot Prayer/Proud Boys) isn't much of a real problem. Possibly Wheeler could do more about the homeless - but what would that entail? Do you want to build housing for them? Incarcerate them? Hassle them until they leave town? Drug treatment? Mental illness treatment? Euthanize them? Give them jobs? I don't see a workable solution, other than to make Portland so unpleasant for them that they go elsewhere. And that will be quite difficult, as these are people whose lives are pretty unpleasant already. Maybe climate change is the answer - if we get much hotter summers and much colder winters, it may be easier to go elsewhere. barfo
Reed, Sellwood, Laurelhurst are all in the city limits and on the East side. Don't you know anything about Portland? Those are the ones I listed on the East side. What were you thinking? Mayor Ivancie of Portland years ago was from the Laurelhurst neighborhood.
To the extent of any and all crimes they commit they should be prosecuted and punished as anyone else would be. The mentally ill ones should be removed from the general public and treated but KATE BROWN slashed state funding for mental health care facilities.
