MM, who was a better Blazer in their prime? Dame ain't close, apparently. So tell us. There weren't many better players, regardless of prime. So tell me how Dame wasn't close. Sabas? Damn, he'd have been amazing in his prime. But we got slipped leftovers. Clyde? Meh, he was amazing but overrated. Pippen? Yeah, a great player that was a great facilitator in his twilight with Portland. Walton? Yeah, I guess. For a year. Injuries killed what could have been.
PUT THE CUPCAKE DOWN! Looks like Felton is trying the look over there move so he can engulf that baked good
That full size cupcake look like a bitty bite in Failton's chubby, sausage-like fingers. Most hated Blazer ever? He wasn't even part of the Jail Blazers era, more like the Fail Blazers era. Tough to top Qyntel Woods and the dog fighting, but no one mentions him any more. When the subject of despised former Blazers comes up, Fatty Felton seems to be universally loathed. BNM
Clyde overrarted by everyone because he's on every to 50 player in NBA history list. Dame is not close to him yet. Walton was, as you say for a year, better than Dame has been because scoreboard. I would slot him behind those two. Maybe behind Sheed and LA When I say not close, I don't mean in ranking, I mean he's not close to Clyde, who was arguably the second best player in the world for a few years.
It's stupid to trade a player who is as good as he is and has given so much to the city. It makes keeping star players here harder. I don't think you're seeing the forest for the trees. There probably will never be a good reason to trade Dame.
Clyde was NOT overrated. He was only the best SG in the league next to Jordan. No Jordan, Clyde's the best.
Stupid hypothetical. Durant marries a woman from Portland and he wants to come here. GS says give us Dame. As nice as he is we're a better team with KD instead of Dame. So not stupid to trade him.
Agreed! How can someone who is one of only 5 players in the 70-year history of the NBA to have more than 20,000 career points, 6000 career rebounds and 6000 career assists be overrated? The other 4: LeBron James Oscar Robertson Kobe Bryant John Havlicek Notice, the following players are NOT on that list: Michael Jordan Larry Bird Magic Johnson Wilt Chamberlain Scottie Pippen He is the only player in NBA history to have more than 20,000 points, 6000 rebounds, 6000 assists and 2000 steals (but, to be fair to Oscar and Hondo, they didn't start tracking steals until near the end of their careers). People who say Clyde was overrated have forgotten how good he was. Dame has come close to matching Clyde's career best 27.2 ppg, but can't touch his career best 7.9 rpg or 8.0 apg and hasn't been, and never will be, remotely close to his career best 2.7 steals per game. Clyde was a 10-time all star and 5-time all NBA when SG was the deepest position in the league. Dame has the potential to surpass Clyde, but he will need to continue to play at his current (or even higher) level for several more years to do so. Clyde has been a bit of a tool since he left Portland, but that doesn't diminish how good he was on the court while he was here. BNM
Thank you for that. I almost spit out my lunch when I read the "Clyde was overrated" comment. Your response was a million times better than anything I could have come up with.
I loved Clyde, don't get me wrong. But I wasn't enamored with a lot of SG's during a stretch of Clyde's run, so of course he was second to Jordan. That's like saying Shaq was the best C of his era. And other than a few years here and there of a few different centers, one player stood far ahead of the others that challenged him and transcended them all.
Disagree. SG was the deepest position in the league during Clyde's prime. Center was the weakest position in the league during Shaq's prime. Sure, early in his career, Hakeem, David Robinson, Ewing, etc. were still around, but by the time Shaq hit his prime those guys were all gone and with Duncan listed as a power forward, there were years when the second team ALL NBA center didn't even average 10 ppg. That was the era of Jamaal Magloire All Star! That's how weak the center position was during Shaq's prime. BNM
So did Gheorghe Muresan - briefly. Shaq had trouble with guys who were actually bigger than him that he couldn't just dunk over at will. Yao also played Shaq well the few times he wasn't injured when they met. BNM
