i am on board for your way of comparison, but do not say that priest is best back next year if he finishes with these number (2500 yds 50 tds 500 carries) if anthony thomas finishes 100 yds 8 tds on 10 attempts. it would be "unfair" to compare since priest had so many more carries and we would have to go strictly on averages. A-t would have him beat 10yds a carry and .8 tds pre carry to 5 yds to .1 tds per carry. I think this comparison is equal in ratio to bears to carolina. one party having way more attempts than the other. there is something to be said for longevity in doing things. Just as if one back played one season and rushed for 1800 yds and 30 tds at 6 yds a carry. no one would say he was better than someone who rushed for 20000 yds over 15 seasons at 5 yards a carry and 200tds. you have to take longevity into account. that is why the bears are the greatest franchise in the NFL.

The difference would be that there must be a reason the Bears limited the A-train to 10 attempts. If he were of a worthy caliber, you can be sure they would feed him the ball. Amassing wins is a little different. I just didn't want franchises to be penalized for not having been around for as long as Chip! Most wins is an impessive statistic. I was just saying that winning Avg. was a better stat to use for comparison's sake. (If you were trying to compare). When this discussion began at work 4th was trying to say that it meant the Bears were superior to the Chiefs. (They actually did have a slight lead over us.) I just was making a point to 4th. He was enjoying getting me going about the Bears before and thought he would try again.

THAT IS MY POINT TOO!! I think the bears are superior to the chiefs [IMG] and for that matter every NFL team and they should be compensated with an extra pick in each round of draft for making this league happen. [IMG]

Second. The only fair way to compare records is winning percentage. To take it a step further, winning percentage over a fixed period of time would also work, but that is just a toy for cooking the books.</div>

I agree w/ Chip. Winning percentage are what counts. Raiders are first. Dolphins are 2nd - I believe.

if you are ranking teams by winning percentage that counts, if you are ranking teams in order of most wins the bears are #1
