Stayed home and had a Zoom meeting with the entire family (PA, MA, MN). The better half made us traditional Korean Beef (admit it, if the pilgrims could make Korean Beef, there would be non of that Turkey nonsense, not our fault they did not have access to superior food) and my daughter made us Lemon Meringue Pie. The old kid got a Thanksgiving goodie bag from a faculty member - since they are all stuck on the dorms. I, unfortunately, had to work - so the food science was kept to a minimum to everyone's delight.

Macalester college in St. Paul. Warned that kid not to come home with a Timberpups jersey.

Indeed. Sent that kid to college with an ice pick and a fishing rod - for cutting holes in a frozen lake...

But, that kid wanted this college - maybe as a way to ensure I do not come to visit often - as I hate the cold...

I’ve never been a big Thanksgiving Day fan (as my dad used to say, everyday should be thanksgiving) but this year was actually one of the better ones we’ve enjoyed for awhile. No rushing around, no deadlines, surprisingly good weather for walking the dog (twice) and firing up the Traeger (beef and chicken skewers, Brussels sprouts and a baby potato medley, all perfectly done), preceded by a Face Time visit with our granddaughters. Dessert was a Lauretta Jean’s chocolate caramel brownie. To round out the day, all the premium channels were free and we took full advantage. I could get used to more Thanksgivings being like this one......

First year, so no. My understanding is that St. Paul did not have the kind of riots that Minneapolis had.

Main concern is/was Covid handling - but this college seems to have done a very good job, so far, of dealing with it. Dorms were open only to 1st year students and overseas students - with 1 person per room, they rented hotels for the athletic team so they interact only with each-other, cafeteria offers only take-out meals, in-person learning limited to labs, performances etc... - from what we have seen - it seems to be mostly working. Only 38 cases in the student body and faculty overall, only 2 of these living in the dorms.
