I know that you probably hate the Nets because VC is on their team, but that doesn't mean the team will suck. What next, you think the Raps are better than the Nets too? I think we have a legit shot of contending for the East crown next year b/c the Pistons will lose the best coach in the NBA, the Pacers are losing their leade in Reggie, and Miami's title hopes hinge on Zo staying healthy, which is iffy. If any team is going to compete with Miami, Indy, Detroit and NJ for the best 4 teams in the East, it'll be Cleveland, not Chicago.</div> LOL. I think you've been out of school too long already, because it seems you can't read. You say I hate the Nets because VC is in New Jersey, but infact VC is one my favourite players and I still support him. And where did I EVER say the Nets suck? I actually said they were a good team, but not in the same company with Miami, Indiana and Detroit. Again, where did I say the Raps are better than the Nets? As a matter of fact, I don't even know why you even brought up the Raptors. Because they are one of my favourite teams? Good one. The Nets could get out of the first round, but no way they will beat Indiana, Detroit, or Miami. Indiana lost there leader? True, but Miller was aging, and if they stay healthy with O'Neal, Artest and Jackson, they will be fine easily winning 50+ games. Plus they got a young stud named Danny Granger who can fill the 3 PT void left by Miller. Detroit loses Larry Brown? Ok, and obviously they are going to hire another good coach. It's not like these players are going to forget how to play defense or something just because Brown is gone. Miami's title hope hinges on Zo? LOL. First of all, it is likely he will come back anyway, and second, he wouldn't make or break there season. So don't put words in my mouth next time.

Bosh is great but he hasn't done 1/2 of what VC did for Toronto. All you Raptor fans just let it go that he left, stop crying about it. You guys can't let the best player your young franchise has ever had shine at all because he left. Let's not make the thread about VC leaving the Raptors because that's always what happens in every Nets thread, you bitter Raptor fans come in and whine all day. I don't mind you guys posting, just make it about the subject not VC.
playmaker31, I am a true Nets fan, and I do believe that they are a very good team, but i'm being real when I say that the Nets are not one of the top 3 teams in the East. I'd give that honor to Detroit, Miami, and Indiana. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting 02civic:</div><div class="quote_post">your proud of having a whiner and crybaby? someone who has his mom fight his fights for him? And the funny thing is, is that i'm a Raptors fan also. You're just another Toronto fan that's mad cause Carter left the team. Stop the hate, appreciate what he did for the team in the past, and leave it be. Alright guys, we all (including me) are getting off topic, so let's talk about SAR. Do you think he was the best fit for the team? I would have rather seen Swift here, because he's better at defending, shot-blocking, and running the floor. He's someone who the Nets could have used.
I hope SAR doesn't pull a Carlos Boozer and says he's commited. Then jumps ship to go to another team. Since 2 of the players we were looking at already have committed to a team or signed with a team. Marshall to the Cavs and Swift to the Rockets. Who would be left of SAR signs with somebody else?

The Nets made a great move in getting Shareef. They also got him for dirt cheap. The Nets have a great offensive team out there but Im not sold on them defensively. You wont confuse the Nets with the Pistons. The Atlantic will be up for grabs between the Nets and Cs.
I f'n LOVE the starting line-up for NJ now.. They've pretty much got 5 capable scorers on the court! And if you argue that Kidd can't really score, well.. okay.. His creative playmaking can more than make up for that fact.. As a Canadian, I'm kinda glad that the greatest Vancouver Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors products are now on the same team.. And here's a middle finger salute to all them VC haters.. Remember the good times, not the bitter divorce..
^Lol, I never realized that the two franchise players from the Grizz and Raps are on the same team. That's pretty crazy. If they get Shareef for a decent contract, the Nets got a great starting lineup right away. He's gonna address your biggest weakness last year, which was a weak frontcourt. You'll still need somebody off the bench, but Abdur Rahim's a hard worker and brings the type of attitude you want in your locker room. During the regular season, I see the Nets fighting for the 3rd spot in the East with the Celtics. If they don't get that then they'll probably land at the 5th, as they aren't better than the Pistons or Pacers yet. I think they'll have a great regular season, but I don't know think they'll get very far in the playoffs. They need to strengthen there bench if they're thinking of making a serious playoff run.

I thought we had discussed the VC matter in the Toronto Raptor forum's Vince Carter Thread? I clearly stated that only a handful of fans are ignorant or stupid enough to hate the Nets just because Vince got traded to them. Even fewer of the so called 'fan-wannabes' actually think that Raptors are better than the Nets. Didn't I warn you <u>not</u> to stereotype all Raptor fans into one category? Please. Back on topic, as I've stated on the other SAR thread, I congratulate you for signing him, and while it is perfectly natural to be biased about your favourite team(s), you got to be realistic. You've mentioned Pistons losing Larry Brown, but like Bobcats stated above do you seriously think that Joe Dumars doesn't have a contingency plan to replace Brown? I agree that Larry Brown is one of the best coaches in the league, but do you, in all honesty, believe that he could've led a team like the Knicks to a Championship? In other words, do you believe that the Pistons will just suddenly become a mediocre team from a championship calibre team just because their coach was replaced? When you consider that the person replacing Larry Brown would most likely be Flip Saunders, and that the team's core is still of the same makeup as when they won the championship, I don't see that happening.
Why is this thread startin about Vince Carter leaving Toronto. Isnt this thread supposed to be about Rahim? i dont get it
I like Stromile Swift, but if you can get SAR for a cheaper price, then I think he's your man. He doesn't have Swift's athleticism or versatility, but he's much more consistent and rebounds much better.

I was referring to Bobcat's ridiculous comments that just made no sense whatsoever. I thought that the reason he was patronising people for thinking the Nets will be East contenders next year is b/c he still hates VC. I duno if he actually does hate VC, but to ssay the Bulls will be better than the Nets next year is insane. Newayz...Stro might have been a better fit for the Nets because of his athleticism, ability to get more fast-break dunks, and his shot-blocking presence. However, Shareef is a more proven and consistent rebounder and scorer, and is also known to be a very intelligent, un-selfish post-player. Stro comes with a lot of immaturity and inconsistency. So in the end, I believe we made the right choice in Reef, b/c Kidd won't accept an immature player like Swift with a lack of bball knowledge.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I believe Bobcats had his reasons to believe the Bulls are going to be better than the Nets.
What SAR loses to Swift in terms of quickness and athleticism, he readily makes up with his basketball IQ and unorthodox post moves and finishes.. I still remember how he finished ridiculous drives to the hoop.. He's good in a clutzy sorta way - ala Paul Pierce.. But let's not diss Swift either.. He's gonna fit in really well w' T-Mac & Yao.. They really needed his athleticism to tandem w' Yao.. Anyhow, I'd like to commend both players for taking less money (they're both worth more than the MLE imho) to join teams with chances of winning to a degree..
Shareef is certainly worth more than the MLE, but I question whether Swift actually is. If you look at his career numbers, his last season numbers and his attitude, it certainly does not look very impressive. Granted he is very athletic and has potential. He will complement Yao and Tmac very well with Houston. Houston will be excellant at the 2, 4 and 5, and their bench will be solid, but with the situation theyre in with the pg and sf positions (they can't sign anyone else decent), I doubt if they'll make it past round 2.
