Probably nothing. But it's depressing. First they are innocent children being murdered. Then they don't even get a funeral or burial. At least I find it depressing. I mean, I realize there are many many people who say we need to sign of and praise murder, but I am just not one of them.
I'm wondering why you would go out of your way to confront a handful of anti-abortion protesters. Whether or not I agree with them (and I don't), it's not like they have some absurd position that needs to be mocked. The pro-abortion side has to construct a new reality in able to morally justify abortion.
For me, that's up to the woman murdering her future human being, not up to the abortionist. Maybe keep the little bugger in a mason jar of formaldehyde for future family discussions? "Ethan, I'd like you to meet your older brother, Fetus. Daddy and I decided he didn't deserve to live, and that you did, so you better not screw up the life with which we rewarded you. Don't make us wish we had killed you, too!"
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it in my opinion. It's just another poorly constructed outrage by the religious zealots.
I'm not a religious zealot, and I find the idea of burning babies for electricity to be a bit macabre. I'm not outraged by it, but the nonchalance by many toward this type of thing is a bit depressing to me for the long-term of our species.
I didn't mock anyone. I lived near the Lovejoy clinic in NW Portland and would see them all the time. They said some pretty cruel things to anyone going in, out or just passing by the clinic. I also worked with one of the women who got locked up for refusing to stop protesting there. As far as morally justifying abortion I'm not seeing a lot of great alternatives. The same people against abortions are the same ones who don't want to provide birth control, or prenatal care, or even after the kid is born things like food or health care, free school lunches. Pretty much any type of social program to support the mother or the kid. I look at it very black and white, if we don't want to prevent the pregnancy or support the kids or the mothers why not let the woman take care of this terrible burden on society.
UPDATE: LifeSiteNews reports that the Marion County Board of Commissioners have announced that the practice of burning aborted babies for power will be stopped immediately. They claim that they were unaware of the practice, but will now put it to an end.
Not suprisingly a lot of vitriol, a lot of personal insults, very few facts. Fetal tissue can come from: an abortion, a miscarriage, a stillbirth, the placenta of a live birth. Something has to be done with it. If a woman has a miscarriage (medical term is spontaneous abortion), what do you think should be done with the fetal tissue? If a woman has an induced abortion, should the fetal tissue be treated differently than that from a spontaneous? It's easy to say OUTRAGE, a lot harder to look at facts. And what is your conclusion? You don't like the way fetal tissue is disposed of, therefore every woman (and barely pubescent girl) must be forced to carry every pregnancy to term under every circumstance, even if it kills her? And all forms of birth control outlawed? And no sex education? Because that is exactly the position of the organization cited in this thread. Again, what is the point of the thread except to say Papa G is once again OUTRAGED I TELL YOU In the films Abortion for Survival, the woman gives consent to have her abortion filmed, it's probably on YouTube and not gruesome at all, if anyone wants to see.
The better question is why a handful of abortion protesters would go out of their way to mock the people getting abortions. Its not like the girls heading in for procedures have some absurd position that needs to b mocked. The pro life side has constructed a reality where they need to play the victim and impose their beliefs on everyone else. Your comment questions sly for participating in the same behavior the protesters are engaging in, when the protesters created the situation by being there and voicing their opinions. Shame on you sly.
