https://www.kcur.org/news/2020-05-2...feels-forced-out-apologizes-to-victims-mother Maybe all of them aren't bastards. Police officer Daniel Straub was forced to resign after he went against fellow officers accounts of a police involved shooting. The police chased after a black man Ryan Stokes, after he was falsely accused by a drunk white man of stealing an Iphone. Stokes was unarmed and decided to surrender. One of the officers who had caught up to him, William Thompson, shot him in the back. The police at first gave the account that Stokes was a thief and he was armed. That he was pulling out his weapon and was thus shot. Officer Straub testified in a lawsuit filed by Stokes mother that his fellow cops lied. Not only was Stokes was not armed and was no thief, he was shot without reason. The drunk white man found his phone by the way. Straub apologized to Stokes mother. The other officers all gave depositions backing up their original claim and denouncing Straub. The case was dismissed but is under appeal. Four years later Straub shit at a white man in a car who was trying to run him over. He was originally cleared, found to be protecting his life. But, the police department suddenly changed it's ruling and found him responsible. He was charged. The police union refused to defend him in court. He eventually pled to a misdemeanor, and was given community service, anger management, and gun training. His charge and conviction led his sergeant to recommend him being fired. He was forced to resign under the pressure. He hasn't found a police job since and is working as a warehouse manager. He stands by his account that Stokes was innocent and unarmed and that his fellow cops covered up for the officer who shot him.
Our justice system is corrupt as hell and people need to open their eyes. Most people don't realize it until it's biting them in the ass.
Gosh, of course it had absolutely nothing to do with her color I'll bet. White men should be barred from being cops.
Not until white police officers prove they are better than that. I am sick and tired of these entitled idiots making the rest of us look bad. You're a fan of statistics and numbers in general. Prove to me that white cops are a minority when it comes to this kind of shit. And I don't buy that it's because the minority of cops are white......
The color of their skin has nothing to do with the way they are acting. The idea that it does is racist. Omitting somebody from a position because of the color of their skin would be unconstitutional, and we don't want that changed.
Daily reminder that cops started as slave catchers and have only ever worked to protect white property from "disorderly" minorities. https://theconversation.com/the-rac...ng-from-slave-patrols-to-traffic-stops-112816
Yep, and that's why we need policy changes from top to bottom and accountability for police who violate the trust society has given them.
Uh..........Hello? That is EXACTLY what we have been doing since the Constitution was written.........just pointing out the obvious.
The sooner we stop generalizing and painting with a broad brush, the sooner we can isolate the true problems and solve them. Until then its just finger pointing of racism and reverse racism. We are better than generalizing. i know several white cops that are good at thier job, have no racist tendancies and are ashamed of the bulk of their peers.
I thought that was what we were trying to do. Especially since George Floyd. Pick up a newspaper (Metaphorically speaking). Any newspaper. It hasn't been working worth a shit and only seems to get worse. The incident above that sparked this exchange is one more example in a never ending list.
