His argument is that he's only got one more year... not that Hedo was offered five while he was only offered four. At least I didn't hear him say that. Ed O.
I'll have to confirm, but I don't think this is right. Right now Roy and LMA can agree to a "max" deal, which means that Roy will get paid whatever the max is on July 8 next year. It doesn't matter if he signs now or then, he's signing a "max" deal. The bigger question for me is about extending LMA. I don't think they could say "we'll offer you 12.7 starting salary, which is less than the max this year but more than the projected max next year". I imagine it would get dialed back to the "max" number, which would effectively make he and Roy max players even though that may not have been the idea.
I would like to have this confirmed on way or the other. Maybe Storyteller hasn't updated his salaries for Paul and Williams yet. I've poked around at Larry Coon's FAQ and haven't seen an answer one way or the other. Ed O.
I pulled this from question #51 And, Story's site has updated Paul's contract to the 13,520,000 figure (commensurate w/this year's lower cap)
Thanks, Brian. With an initial max salary of $12.5m, then, Portland would say about $3m by matching another team's offer over five years... not the $10m I had stated. Raises would be like $1.31m a year rather than $1m (which other teams would be capped at due to the 8% maximum raise). Ed O.
Damn. Guess I'll have to listen to his show for a bit, but if he teases it and stretches it out, I'll click it off and catch up here later.
Yeah, why should Chris Bosh call to recruit Hedo, when his contract status is up in the air...oh wait....he did.... Roy's comments fall on deaf ears on that one, way to show you are all about the team... "Are you going to pay me?"..."If you do, I'll give him a call, if not...well...good luck"
