    I think its possible.

If not we could try to trade one for a future 1st to give us more flexibility since we owe one to Charlotte which hinders us adding picks to trade

Why are you so keen to offload one of the best young players in Europe?

I'm wondering how badly dallas wants capspace. If we gave them our secounds for there lotto pick and someone who doesn't have a large salary they want to get ride of.
If that happens I like the idea of calling up phx giving them 10/13/our greek for gortat and 5 and whatever bad contracts they want to stick us with. I'd only make that if one of the two SGs is there at 5.

    I think Dallas would want
    (a) money
    (b) future first(s)

Dallas would want multiple firsts for #13? They won't get it. They are better off with "one of the best young players in Europe"

    I don't doubt it.

But there is always a price. And quite frankly I am not sure Olapido fits in with mKG and Kemba. Three exciting athletes, but one should excel in outside shooting. They would be great in the open court, but not so sure in a half court game. But i do think he would fit in well with Lillard and Batum.

Bill Simmons: Triston Thompson and the #1 pick for LaMarcus?

I've been on the trade LMA bandwagon for a few years now but I wouldn't touch this deal.

I don't think I would, either, although Thompson looked pretty solid in the second half of last season.

Who would you take if you had the #1? I'd hope like hell that somebody else was really in love with Noel - Charlotte, perhaps.

Agreed that this is unappealing. Thompson is a good rebounder, but you loose out on everything else at the PF position. And, I'm not yet convinced that a 6'11" 206 lbs shot blocker is what this team needs.

If you are going to trade Aldridge, I would rather it be one younger prospect with a very high ceiling. Then as you are rebuilding (again) you can fill in the gaps. Too bad Dallas doesn't have any players we would want.

I think we can get better value for LMA. I'm not high in Thompson at all though.

I agree with what you are saying, but I don't think the pick would be used on Noel. It would be Olapido or McLemore.

I'm on the trade LMA bandwagon too and that is a little sparse, but what if it were more along the lines of LMA for #1, #19, Thompson and ... Waiters (to be immediatly traded or make this deal a 3way) to Charlotte or Phoenix for the #4/5 contigent upon Oladipo being there? So take Noel, plus Oladipo/Thompson/whomever at 19, that's not a bad haul, ship out Matthews for a first next year and we get a ton of cap room this year (or next) and have a really young athletic team to develop.

Except I don't see Cleveland offering Thompson, Waiters, 1 AND 19 for LMA.

LMA for Thompson, #1, and next year's unprotected pick. Then trade the #1 down a few spots to pick up another asset and take Oladipo. Or package the #1 with the #10 for players/picks.
I'd still rather try to get one of DET's bigs for LMA though.

    #1, #19 and Thompson for LA, #39 and #40?

Portland could probably package #10 and #19 to move up to somewhere around 5-6...

Thompson, Mclemore and Len is theoretically a decent haul for Aldridge
Thompson, Noel and Porter is as well

Portland might also be able to swap the Greek, cash and #45 to Dallas for #13.

Those are a lot of assets to acquire players via the draft or trade

Certainly not as good next year though.

Being "not as good next year" is a lot better than being "about the same as, or maybe a little better than, last year".
