This is exactly what we did and failed us. LMA actually needs to go hard at the rim, and Damian as well.

The problem is that the blazers started so poorly, and the game became lopsided so quickly that you can't really get a read on what worked or not and why. By the time the blazers got it going a little, the game was out of hand. I think the blazers need to come out strong, keep it close early and try to make Duncan beat you from the elbow.

Parker tends to go into Hero mode when game is close or we are behind causing the spurs to stop moving the ball.

Yeah because there really isn't anyone on the spurs they can get angry at. A totally fundamental team. No egos there.

God when will Duncan and Pop finally retire so we can get back to imperfect teams with petty problems like the East has?

Duncan will retire, LMA will come to SA and you will be in the same situation. Doh!

The true adjustment is to force Pop to have to make mid game adjustments. We need to be the team that forces the mismatch, so we gain confidence. Champions know how to make the other team be uncomfortable. Wannabes are teams that are constantly adjusting because they are so overly mismatched.

I think we should take advantage of Lemarcus' ability to guard on the perimeter

I don't think you want LMA to guard parker on the perimeter to often. I think you probably want to have one of your other smalls guard parker and see how that goes before switching everything. Parker probably won't have as good a game today but If you switch LMA onto him that makes too big of a mismatch for parker speed wise and for whomever the big is that is screening. Both Duncan and Diaw will post up the smaller guard.

Do you guys think zone would work with Spurs? I know we haven't done it much this year, but the Spurs doesn't really have that individual dominator. I know Parker did great, but he is a product of the single coverage. The moment you zone him, he isn't nearly as effective.

It'd be worth trying. But they have the shooters to bust the zone.
But the #1 most important change is to JUMP the screens, but not switch. Stop the point of attack and recover.

Yeah it's a huge gamble I know. Spurs have some really deadly shooters. But if they aren't hitting those outside shots, we would really break them down

And if we can make their shooters constantly work hard on D, their legs will give out by game four.

Damn, Stotts looks haggard! Hopefully he has some answers for the Spurs tonight, otherwise he's going to out-droopy Droopy with that face of his.
