There are plenty of other ways to discipline a child without spanking. Spanking is usually just good for letting the parent vent. In my household spanking did little to prevent future bad behavior. I do not have a problem with Peterson playing football but he is definitely wrong if the kid was bleeding after punishment.
As someone who was belted by my father and hit with a coat hanger by my mother, I agree with you, not with the asinine legal system's knee-jerk reaction, which is to ruin his life by making him an unemployable felon living under a bridge.
