No. This is over the top.

But a slap on the butt (within reason) doesn't hurt when disciplining

My mother was a ninja master with those wooden spoons. She even broke a few on my butt.

But never were there welts or lacerations. Some of you are talking out the asses you claim you were beat on.

"My mother beat me so bad I couldn't walk for 3 months and when she was done I thanked her for it."

    Uh huh, sure...

oh man I never had welts. But I did forget to mention my dad had a weightlifting belt for when we really got out of hand. That thing was like a Championship Wrestling belt. We even drew on it to make it look like the WWF Heavyweight belt. (and then it was promptly used on us)

Wasn't Peterson the one who lost a kid to child abuse? Didn't some dude beat his baby momma's kid to death last year?

There are plenty of other ways to discipline a child without spanking. Spanking is usually just good for letting the parent vent. In my household spanking did little to prevent future bad behavior.

I do not have a problem with Peterson playing football but he is definitely wrong if the kid was bleeding after punishment.

As someone who was belted by my father and hit with a coat hanger by my mother, I agree with you, not with the asinine legal system's knee-jerk reaction, which is to ruin his life by making him an unemployable felon living under a bridge.

Do some of you want to change your opinion on what Peterson did now that we have pictures?

I had some welts on my ass from my dad's belt. I definitely deserved it though.

I've spanked my kids and I think there is a time and place for it. I would usually tell my kids to go in their room so I can calm down before I spank them. They thought that was more torture, but it was honestly for their benefit

According to the police report, Peterson allegedly sent text messages to the child's mother saying he "felt bad" because he struck the kid in the testicles.

"Got him in the nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I'm all tearing that butt up when needed!" the text said.

I went to school once with red marks on my legs, the shape of the tip of a belt. As I said, when the law operated on a budget, someone would talk to a first offender and tell him to stop. Now, the police state can afford years of prison.

Have you even read what this is about?

We're told the child returned home to his mother in Minn. who noticed injuries and took the child to a doctor. A short time later, the doctor contacted authorities in Texas to report Adrian.
You keep acting like Peterson is the victim here. He's not. These laws are in place to protect the child. The mother was absolutely right in taking her child to the doctor. The doctor has to report this to the state. No one is out to get Peterson.

No one? Did you read the first post?

Is this his first offense? He should get a warning.

A stick or a branch. I get discipline and whatnot but if you are whipping your kids till they bleed you are a sick fuck
