well wich is it? freeland and leonard and barton suck ass and are horrible?

    or

freeland and leonard and barton should be dominating summer league because they are so much better and experienced than the other teams?

and not picking on you big fella, at least not consciously

It's both. Freeland, Claver, Leonard and Barton should all be dominating SL. They aren't even doing well because they suck ass and are horrible.

Um, I'll give you Freeland and Leonard. Barton has at least been active, although probably in more bad ways than good. But Claver's barely played! He got injured a few minutes into the first game. And we were winning handily at that point.

It's not Claver's fault he got hurt, but hurt he is

Good points. If we had even one point guard in the game, maybe he could work on the low block.

I feel confident we'll see a more effective Thomas Robinson by the time the season gets here.

I'll agree on the other 3, but I don't think Claver should be dominating, he's just not that type of player. I don't think he has to be to be an effective part of the Blazers regular season rotation (which won't happen this year). Claver isn't great at anything, but he isn't terrible at anything either - decent defender, decent rebounder, high IQ, doesn't initiate much, but doesn't turn the ball over either. If he could turn himself into an excellent 3-point shooter he'd be a fine role player.

As for the other 3, let's just say I'm disappointed.

    wtf?

so all the players you guys thought were horrible before summer league started, should now be dominating summer league...

some serious self righteous rationalization going on in here

It's summer league. Nolan fucking Smith played well for us last year in summer league. Guys that played in the NBA as much as the guys mentioned in this thread should be playing well in summer league.

Not that I expect much out of Freeland in the regular season, but I just don't see summer league as a great showcase for someone like him, and also Claver.

Agreed. And I actually haven't been that disappointed with Freeland this summer. Maybe that is because my standards have lowered so much for him though.

Yet you can't criticize him for not dominating in the games WHEN HE'S NOT PLAYING IN THEM. That's a whole new level of negativity.

If your not a PG or SG and don't have a good SL PG who knows how to pass then you SoL there.
SL is all about players being selfish to try and make an NBA team or showcase their skills so expecting big men to do amything without a PG who actually wants to pass the ball is fairly absurd because they simply will not have the ball in their hands offensively enough.

It would probably behoove the team to sign a real point guard just for SL so he can run the offense and get people involved... hell.... where is Earl Watson?

We have a "real" PG on the roster, he just doesn't have a guaranteed contract with us so he's not getting as much burn.
