Lebron was already gone but yeah that's one stupid pick. I never regret the Odin pick, especially after watching Thor. But I hated the Zbo trade when it happened and the Webster pick was a joke.
I don't think Zach would have grown up as much as he has if he had stayed in Portland. Not to say he wasn't a good player while he was here, but he's stepped up since obviously (mostly in the very recent past). Also, if Aldridge had Z-Bo and/or Durant here, it's pretty likely that he wouldn't be a third team All-NBA player. He deferred to Roy a lot, and that was with playing time. With Z-Bo here, it would have been a lot tougher to find playing time, and neither of them really played like a center until Aldridge bulked up and then played like a man after Roy went down.
It's OK, LeBronze was off the board and Melo & Bosh would've bid their time in MoTown before bailing to NYC and South Beach anyways. If you would've somehow landed LeBronze, he would've ended up in South Beach. If you would've picked Wade, he would've end up in South Beach. It's a big ol' consipiracy! You should've taken Mickael Pietrus!
Sure that's possible, but we don't know what would've happened. Maybe the pistons would've been able to bring a better free agent than Villanueva as an acceptable sidekick. Maybe Detroit would've been a playoff team, better than Toronto and Bosh stays put. Wade stayed with the team who drafted him, maybe he would've done the same in Detroit.
I doubt it. Drafting Deron Williams (or Chris Paul) would almost certainly have meant not being in position to win the lottery in the Oden/Durant year. It also probably means not having the draft pick that eventually netted Aldridge (through trade). Roy could still be a Blazer though. Mashing together all regrets into one super team doesn't really reflect a possible alternate reality, IMO.
I'll always wonder how crushed Portland fans would have been when Jordan left the Blazers in the late '80s for the Lakers.
I don't think so. Drexler would have been traded long before he could have left Portland for Hakeem. Don't mess with my imaginary draft dreams!
You should allocate some time to thinking about how screwed we would be if we hadn't drafted LaRue Martin. A lot of chips would have fallen differently.
Bullcrap. A great GM could have drafted both of them. KPEE FAIL on the Durant/Oden thing. I saw trade ideas at BBF that could have netted both players, had ZBO been used wisely as a trade chip.
"I have some trade ideas to get Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Bonds and we wouldn't have to give up that much."
Even a competent GM would have pulled it off. Durant and Oden was right in our hands, and we dropped the ball.
ZBo was a ballhog, a lazy defender, and a classic jailblazer off the court. He's in a contract year right now, and his numbers show it. He has been a nearly adequate defender this year. I think we could have gotten a bit more for him if we had been more patient, but I have no problem with having shipped him out.
