SpursTalk is quite entertaining right now. They are literally saying what I said back in 2013: "Since then he's primarily a jumpshooter. He'll get the ball down low and it's one of two things: fadeaway or face up that usually turns into a fadeaway. He's not assertive and doesn't attack the hoop nearly enough." - Fez Remember how smug Pop was when they signed LA?
I bet the Spurs trade him someplace like Miami for the 14th pick, draft a future all-star, then sign Chris Paul. SMH.
Bringing in Chris Paul won't win them shit at this point. It's time for a rebuild around Kawhi. They need to jettison most of their aging vets and try to bring in some young talent around him. The guy is only 25.
I remember when they signed Aldridge the talk was how Pop was going to get the most out of Aldridge and make him play an optimal brand of basketball... Nope, he is still the same player he always was. He has the occasionally ability to pop off but for the most part he's an inefficient volume score that is in love with fadeaways and midrange jump shots. Looks like Stotts got more out of Aldridge than Pop.

Paul and Kawhi would be amazing under Pop. They won 60+ games and were up 20 over the Warriors in Oakland before Kawhi got hurt. Replace Aldridge with Paul and they easily get better.
LMA's game doesn't translate well to the twenty or so pounds he's put on in the last couple of years. He just doesn't have the quickness anymore for his isolation moves to work. All the Warriors have to do is flash a quick double at him and he's forced to pass out to the perimeter.
Spurs aren't going to be able to get suit for him. Hell Pop may retire this summer. Spurs are so screwed. I am so Glad LaMartha and his weak ass game left Portland. It was a blessing without much or any of a disguise.
That's what scares me. Some team is going to get him for cheap. The guy can still play. He's just not the player that he was.
What's scary about that? It's not like he improves team performance. Also, there's no such thing as getting him "for cheap" - whoever gets him will have to give a huge percentage of their cap space to a player who is essentially a net zero.
The Spurs had success. He's not a bad player. He's just not a star anymore. He's mentally fragile, so you can't count on him, but I'm sure he could help a team like Toronto or Atlanta or Utah. Someone will want him, and it could be as simple as cap space and a pick.
Life is funny/odd sometimes. Having a LaMarsha thread next to a James Bond/Roger Moore thread is quite the interesting contrast, this morning. They are absolutely nothing alike.
