They may if we package them with assets. We just need serviceable PFs and C's. We can get those, better than just dumping for Draft Picks like 2-3 years from now, just need to tinker with the team a bit. No major overhauls needed, just balance out the roster so we some rim protection and someone who can score near the basket. Some rebounding and some perimeter defense. There are minor tweaks we can do to markedly improve our roster. The roster is a work in processes, anyone could see that pre-season when we had 4 SFs vying for 2 spots.
I still think we can get Phoenix to take Meyers for Tyson Chandler. Or something like that, get an older player that can help and Meyers to a young team that may be able to use him. It'll just be like when we got Marcus Camby a few years back.
If we want to improve out cap situation, Crabbe has to go. Trading Aminu,... is just shuffling the deck.
I don't see us in a market for an older center like Chandler. Olshey said they wanted to get younger at the position (which could also be code for cheaper.) I think our best chance to dump Meyers is with Brooklyn. They're in asset collection mode. If we attached the Memphis or Cleveland pick to Meyers maybe we even get a decent talent back (McCullough for example)
We need vets though. Our team now is basically the result of going younger without veteran leadership. we are a chicken with its head cut off. A guy like Chandler could really be a glue type of player off and on the court
No he won't. That'd be awful. That'd be awful too. Were not in win now mode. He's making $13M a year and he's bad and getting worse.
I disagree. With Lillard and McCollum being at the age they are at, we need to aggressively pursue guys that can help us win now or be competitive, especially at our team salary. We need to show up. We need big guys, vets, toughness and a defensive presence and we all can't rely on under utilized young players with potential or infinitely stash draft picks. We'll just end up with the same type of players we have right now that we're trying to trade away.
25 and 26? They'll be just as good 4 years from now. We're not going to win a series in the next two years aside from a miracle (such as trading Crabbe and Butler). "Win-now" moves won't be good enough to help us win now.
Are you saying I can't teach someone to stand at the 3 point line and launch slow shots? Or constantly be out of position on defense? I can easily teach how to be Fabio tall
How many can hit 30% or better from 3pt in the NBA? I think Leonard's development has been stunted due to playing out of position at PF and sporadic playing time. But being in the NBA for as long as he has, he's had to learn a lot about how to play in this league. I expect the light bulb will go on at some point, hopefully from playing C.
BOS and WAS should now go all in with CLE looking more vulnerable and TOR improving with the Ibaka trade. BOS needs any decent big and WAS just needs bench players. We should be shopping Meyers/AC HARD. If we can dump these contracts for even 2nd round picks, we need to go all in. Hit the reset button, gets some flexibility back, and build up those assets for this summer.
Crabbe for Bayless and future 2nds or a future 1st. The sixers have so many future picks and a clear need for a shooting guard. Bayless is out the rest of this year and is only owed 9 million per year the next two years. Helps us with tank mode and cuts salary. Bayless is serviceable off the bench and can handle the ball.
Agreed. The injury to Love and with Toronto getting Ibaka, Boston for sure needs to keep up with the the other teams in the West. Even better, they certainly have the assets to do so. 2017: 1st round pick swap with Brookly (currently the #1 pick) 2017: 2nd round pick from Cleveland (currently #58) 2017: 2nd round pick from LA Clippers (currently #55) 2017: 2nd round pick from Minnesota (currently #35) 2018: 1st round pick from Brookly 2018: 1st round pick - Boston's own 2019: 1st round pick from LA Clippers (protected) 2019: 1st round pick from Memphis (Top-8 protected) 2019: 1st round pick - Boston's own 2019: 2nd round pick from Detroit 2020: 2nd round pick from Miami I think they are in position to make a move. They are also $1.1M under the salary cap so can make a bit of an unbalanced trade.
