Agreed. But that is not a move to make right now. We need to tank the rest of the season, and pick up a solid vet in the off-season.
Boston's picks: 2017: 1st round pick swap with Brookly (currently the #1 pick) 2017: 2nd round pick from Cleveland (currently #58) 2017: 2nd round pick from LA Clippers (currently #55) 2017: 2nd round pick from Minnesota (currently #35) 2018: 1st round pick from Brookly 2018: 1st round pick - Boston's own 2019: 1st round pick from LA Clippers (protected) 2019: 1st round pick from Memphis (Top-8 protected) 2019: 1st round pick - Boston's own 2019: 2nd round pick from Detroit 2020: 2nd round pick from Miami Because Portland has multiple picks as well, much like Boston, they become assets for a trade, consolidation or to move up as neither team will use them all for themselves.
Remember in 2015 Boston offered 4 picks to CHA aiming for winslow and CHA turned it down to take Kamisky. That still makes me laugh at CHA.
They run out of Brooklyn picks next year? I thought Brooklyn traded them every first round pick, in perpetuity, for Kendrick Perkins or some shit.
I get that, but I do think that we could easily replace their production with rookie-scale or vet-min contracts. Maybe not Aminu, but certainly Ed. The only good thing about either player is their contract - and I don't want to hold onto minimally skilled players just because they have decent contracts. As much as I hate Aminu's game, if we only trade one of the two I'd rather trade Ed. But if we keep Aminu for next season he can't be allowed to play during the final 6 minutes of the 4th quarter - he should be limited to about 18m off the bench.
Harkless is more skilled, more polished, has infinitely more upside, and is on a very reasonable contract. That's why I fear we'll end up trading him. Unless we're getting back another good SF it would be a real shame to trade Harkless.
Totally disagree (other than I'd hate to see Mo go). I love Harkless. Probably my favorite Blazer behind CJ. Mo has way more potential than Aminu. But Harkless often disappears. Aminu can't shoot the ball, but he finds other ways to contribute and put some stats up.
Ed looked like at least twice the player Leonard is. Of course that may not be saying much but he is also paid almost half. Remember, both Aminu and Davis's contracts go down in price each year instead of up like normal contract structures.
All of our players often disappear - that's not something that's unique to Harkless. And honestly, I'd rather Aminu disappear more often! All too often Aminu's most meaningful stats are turnover late in the 4th quarter - I don't mind that so much this season, as I want to lose games.
3rd year's the charm...we're halfway there according to Olshey's 3 year window...that's realistic....waiting till CJ is 30 for you youngsters
Got this from another board but Windhorst was on Russillo and Kanell this morning (http://m.espn.com/general/play?id=18692827) and mentioned that the Wizards and Blazers are talking trade. Wizards are looking to improve their bench. He gave no further details. I attached the link but I'm too lazy to actually listen to it. He also said Portland will be active. So let's hear your trade ideas. I'll take Oubre thanks.
I honestly think that Aminu and Davis would be targets for teams in the playoff hunt. Well, teams that are foolish enough to think that these kinds of trades, on average, pan out.
Yeah it's funny we were just talking about Aminu being a fit in Washington yesterday on here. Davis would help as well.
So I'm guessing this is something like ed Davis for a couple 2nd rounders or something along those lines.
I dont really see the point in moving aminu, harkless or davis for a couple 2nd rounders. Why? They all are fine role players on good deals. Moving crabbe for bayless (on a very manageable 9 million per year for 2 more years), and a pick is more along the lines of something we should do. Philly gets their shooter at guard and gets pushed towards minimum cap spending requirement.
It would kind of be like the Nurkic move. Maybe we can get a draft pick out of it as well. I've always liked Oubre. That would be a solid get.
Well Davis is a FA after next season. I mean there's no rush but we're not a contender either so if we can get a draft pick for him without taking back salary I would be all over it.
