Keep in mind Seattle drafted Richard Sherman in the fifth round, value can be had.

I think that is true of most drafts but not this year. You aren't going to have a team pay a bounty to move up a few slots this year. A weak(er) then lately draft from most reports. Picks next year are going to be valuable.

Yeah, and there are a lot of guys who have made in the league as undrafted free agents. So, yeah, value can be had - I thought that was obvious and goes without saying. Every team has numerous late-round picks, UFA's, and what not. I just was saying I wouldn't be jumping up and down like some people. Some were suggesting mid-round picks for Flynn, despite that he's mostly unknown. As I said, at least they got something for him, as they probably would have cut him otherwise.

If it turns into an early 5th round pick then that is a mid-round pick. I consider 1st to 2nd early round picks, 3rd to 5th middle round picks, and 6th to 7th late round picks personaly.

What do the analysts say? I'd say 5th is late-middle round. Now, you're just getting into semantics, which is beyond my point or the intent of my original post on the matter. I'm saying they didn't get as high of picks as some were suggesting, say a 3rd or 4th plus.

Well sure if you want to start breaking middle round picks into early-middle, middle-middle, and late-middle then we are talking semantics. I have never heard a analyst say late round pick and mean early (to even mid or late) fifth round. That isn't to say it hasn't happened but I haven't heard it.

Great no risk move for the niners in signing nnamdi. dude is my favorite player. Low risk for them, the question is, is nnamdis heart in playing football anymore? Who knows, but if he can revert back to the man in the bay, area thats huge for the niners.

I've never really heard a 5th round pick be classified. I've only heard them generalize groups as early, middle, and late, without ever really breaking it down, especially 5th round. I mean, it's pretty obvious 1st and 2nd are early, 3rd and 4th middle, 6th and 7th late. 5th? Who the fuck knows. I can see how you'd call a 5th round pick mid-range, but it's low-mid range. I can see how someone would call it late, but it's high-late. So harp all you want on what it is. I'm just saying it's not as high as some people thought. And the fact that they gave him up so cheaply confirms what I (and some other posters) believed: that Flynn was likely to be cut if they couldn't trade him.

Just saw this and was going to post it. If his heart is in it, he's one of the best in the game. I'll be interested to see how he does, but I like this move. At this point, SF has filled in most of its' holes. I expect they'll use their plethora of picks to continue to fill in the holes and deepen the roster. Probably move some picks for future picks as well.

I'm psyched. I was hoping they'd pick him up.

"Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that his 2013 base salary will be $1.35 million, and that the 31-year-old did not want any guaranteed money."

He didn't want guaranteed money? Whaa?

Did anyone sign Charles Woodson yet? Wonder if he's next.

That is odd. NFC west is going to be crazy next year. The Raiders Namdi looked good. The Dream Team Namdi not so good. I will be curious how he plays for SF.

Never understood why the Eagles were interested in him at all. He made his hay in Oakland as a lockdown man corner who could shut down his man without any help, yet the Eagles use mostly zone coverage. Unsurprisingly turned out to be a major waste of time and money.

Didn't see him that much with the Eagles but seems like everyone thinks hes lost a step. I always thought he could convert to safety late in his career. He was a safety through college, big for a CB, and tackled well. Hes incredibly intelligent. I think he'd do well as a FS.

Yeah there's not much downside for us. Palmer wasn't an answer long term. This guy is an unknown, maybe we have something with him. Probably hes nothing really special though and if thats the case then there's no real harm done as we were going to suck balls and continue rebuilding this year anyway. And for all the R's fans crying about giving Pryor the job, Reggie McKenzie really loves competition, so if Pryor has it in him to be anything at all at this level he'll have his chance. I don't think hes an NFL QB.

Not sure. They talked for a whole day before he left without a deal. I'm thinking some moves are coming on draft day.
